Life like the movies

If your life was like a movie who would you be:

I think I would play the part of Wayne from Waynes World quiet well, now all I have to do is find my Garth.

Forums: The Bar,

The Godfather

Depends if you mean who I'd like to be or who it most closely resembles?

Like to - James Bond (Sean Connery era)

who you most closely resemble personality/looks wise

who I'd like to be: John Matrix - Commando (we fight for love)

who I most closely resemble: Darryl Kerrigan – The Castle
:

Vim Fluego from "Bad News" -tho I spose it isn't a movie...

Haven't thought of any movie yet, but I totally relate to Joan of Arcadia. I'm not even ashamed.

meet the feebles

Are you the fly, the cow or the cat?

my partner just said my movie/character was Cleopatra. that's pretty cool. although sometimes i feel like i'm Lawrence of Arabia ... "no prisoners" etc.

Back to work!

I agree Soldierboy back to work!!!
Left, right, left, right, Turn, Foward March, left, right....

Sure, "Laz"

I dont hear marching!!!!

Actually, on the subject of life like the movies: I've been thinking recently about my predilection for justifying decisions or feelings by looking to movies for affirmation; for example, if I have a crush about which I'm not overly confident (that's most of them) and I see some quirky romantic movie I'll think to myself "if they can make that (completely ludicrous situation) work then so can I". Like the other week a friend and I saw that new Ashton Kutcher pop trash, about a romance involving just three or four meetings in seven years (I have to qualify, it was WAAAAAY better than Serendipity); movies like that.

I'm torn between thinking it's great to have some faith in romance & magic & whatever, and that it's unhealthy to harbour foolish & unrealistic expectations. Mind you, faith hasn't really caused me any serious damage so far...

there's nowt wrong with looking to movies for that. movies are just human beings trying to work out what it means to be humans and how to relate to other humans. sure, there's a fair whack of money making going into it too, but we as audience choose what we want to see - movies over time have a large amount of faith and belief in the goodness of people - that's not just escapism - that's our own wishes and intentions reflected in the art we make and the art we demand to see. i don't think you're dealing with fiction when you look to movies for clues on other people's behaviour. that fiction is grounded in something believable and credible.

//Mind you, faith hasn't really caused me any serious damage so far...

What about that time that you jumped off the Brooklyn Bridge thinking you were going to go through a portal into 1876 to be with Hugh Jackman, but you were wrong and you ended up in hospital for two months?

//What about that time that you jumped off the Brooklyn Bridge

Oh yeah...that was pretty disappointing... But that cool Mr Glass brought comic books to me in the hospital, and told me that I was like real special and stuff...no! wait a sec...was that me?

What?!? You jumped before getting photographic proof of your presence in 1874?

//about a romance involving just three or four meetings in seven years

Even cooler are Richard Linklater's efforts in Before Sunrise/Sunset - just the two meetings in seven (or more?) years. Or on a slightly more metaphysical plane, you have Eternal Sunshine and the Time Traveller's Wife.

I am Christ with a thousand-eyed goat's head from 'Altered States'.

Does that come with the cross or is that on optional accessory?

Hmm... I could be a skinned pig on a crucifix from Holy Mountain, I guess. Something to aspire to, anyway.

Maybe you could put that on your five year plan.

I'm thinking more like Key Performance Indicators at my work. Not sure how my employer would assess my competency, but that's OK.

Maybe a 360 degree peer review.

They could peer at you from all angles. Ahahahaha.

I really related to 15-year-old William Miller in 'Almost Famous'... that's such a cool movie. And Kate Hudson is sooo hot...

I suppose you hang around with groupies too, you lucky devil.

Nah, I latched onto my favourite groupie early on... wedded bliss.

ah

Cool link... I was watching this one last night on the tele (way past my bed-time), absolute classic.
