Scroll down to Hints & Tips.
There are tips for "Breathing", "Mic Technique" and "Powerful Vocals".
As for warming up - you could sing the songs just quietly to yourself a couple of times, just to loosen up, and then a couple more times with the rest of the band so they can loosen up and get into the groove.
Not only does it get you ready to record it also lets you know if you remermber all the words or not. But you are going to have your lyrics with you, aren't you? Then you don't have to worry about remembering the words.
Because worry is a killer. As is any sort of stress, especially for a singer. If you stress out then you tighten up. And that's no good.

You could do what Kurt Cobain did and constantly sip on a bottle of cough syrup (that had a high codine content).

Active ingredients (in each 5 mL tsp of their flu stuff)
Acetaminophen, USP 160 mg Pain reliever/fever reducer
Chlorpheniramine maleate, USP 1 mg Antihistamine
Dextromethorphan HBr, USP 5 mg Cough suppressant
Pseudoephedrine HCl, USP 15 mg Nasal decongestant

Not so fast. Firstly, your source is American (acetominophen is what a certain beligerant country chooses to call paracetamol, in the same way they have aluminum). Secondly, some versions of Robutussin (probably *not* the flu stuff), contain codeine, as do a number of other cough syrups. Codeine is especially good for coughing. Now, still no morphine eh? Well, funny thing is, codeine has no direct effect in humans. However, after it sifts off to visit your liver, around 10% of it is converted to morphine. So in effect, a 15mg does of codeine, is actually a 1.5mg dose of morphine, but it'll take a while to hit....

Heh. I've been in need of some fairly hard-out meds recently. In fact, I'm only a couple of days out of a multi-day codeine haze. I knew it was some bad shit when taking panadeine and neurofen at the same time, or paracetamol and neurofen plus at the same time, plus Difflam, really wasn't cutting the mustard.

hey commanderk, you should try 'vocalzones'. They'll clear your voice if you need it and are specially made to help you when your voice is tired. they're about $6 for a box of 20? and you can get them from pretty much any pharmacy. they're pretty strong in the taste department but they work.
Ultimately just make sure you get heaps of sleep before you record because you're voice is the first thing to go when you're tired.
Anyway good luck for recording, hope it goes well.

There's a few good basic tips on recording at the BBC's Sold on a Song site:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/soldonsong/guide/studio.shtml
Just basic stuff but good to know and even better to do.
Remember, if you know what you want then you'll know when you get it.
If you don't know, then you could be there all day and end up with nothing you like.
So decide what you want, prepare what you need, and plan what you're going to do.
That's each band member as an individual and all together as a band, too.
So everyone knows what everyone else is going to do and when and why.
I know it's simple stuff but it's usually the simple things that trip people up.
Anyway, have fun.
