viewing numbers on muzic.net would be a lot smaller than here, which is why people post gigs all over the place on nzmusic.com. Is a gigs section out of the question? I know there is a gig guide here and artist forums but on the negative it seems to take quite a while for artist forums to be set up and the couple of times I've used the gig guide it seems to take a while to get updated.
Not having a go at anyone I know the nzm team is flat out. If it is a concern that people (such as myself) spam here all the time maybe a dedicated forum would be well used?

I think a dedicated forum would be great - so many people who use this message board are artists and performers that it would be useful for them to have somewhere to advertise their gigs, surely? I only mentioned nzmusic.net because it DOES have a dedicated forum. I agree that the viewing numbers are lower than here so isn't that a great argument for having one on this site?

Yeah, the New Zealand Music forum has pretty much turn into an advertising page, dominated by boring cut 'n' paste promos for gigs, CDs and websites. In fact, a rough count reveals that 13 out of the 20 most current posts are advertising.
There's got to be a better way for people to be able to promote their gigs and CDs releases without cluttering up the forums.
There was a similar topic in The Bar last month and Noizy came up with some good suggestions.

It's not just NZmusic.com, it's the whole bloody Morse Media empire. Those guy's simply don't reply to emails about anything. I've sent 10 emails to 5 different addresses trying to get a record up on the shop and can't get a reply about that. I think the whole site is run by robots.
Either that, or the whole place is sealed up tight and only bands and people that pass muster are invited in. Or maybe they're all too busy trying to get the flag changed.

The other thing is, a lot of the time ...
The other thing is, a lot of the time the venues aren't added on the nzmusic.com database and you type in the name of the venue in the "other" box or whatever it's called, but the admins don't add the venue and your gig never makes it in to the gig guide. So what are you supposed to do? Better to chuck it in one of the forums than not have it on the website at all.
