If degrees.K aren't one of the best new bands around at the mo they must at least be up there in the top 10. these guys have it all. great songs with integrity, humour and a huge live sound. just another chchch 3 piece? nah, these guys have got the goods and ain't that ugly either.

Allo, allo! finally got things on the button and got another e.p.on the way. Nearly finished and release in Nov, Sweet!!! Time to sew up the pillows and finish the patch work. Six tracks done with failsafe some tracks up, some heart , some frustration and all in all a comfortable sleep. Oh we all work in music stores because that's the only place that will employ us!! WOOHOO i saw degrees. k @ the Chch Rockquest last night, i didnt even know they were going to be playing but im glad they were! ive wanted to see them. they were really good, i loved them
I saw degrees.k a while ago at the orientation, and I dont know if it was coz the sound guy was getting abit carried away or what but I didn't really enjoy it. I don't think the audience gave them a chance to show their stuff coz the whole crowd kept asking for Slim through their whole set ( coz they were on after them) and I think degrees.k was just basically pissed off coz you couldn't really hear shit but "SLIM!SLIM!SLIM!" constantly. Which is pretty sad coz there were a couple of loyal degrees.k fans in the front who got booed to the side. And I would of liked to hear at least one of their songs coz I had never heard of them before. But that was sort of my last chance, coz Ive never heard from them again. Does anybody know if they got an album out or recomend any good stuff from them coz I'd like to hear them properly, and if it has to be in the comfort of my own home then so be it

They also have a track on 'Fine Tuned' a cd that was released by The Package, and they also have one on Bride of Brat.

hello there, here is some information for you guys out there who are into it. We are playing at the jet set on friday the 27th of July and then releasing our album 'lifelike' on the 17th of August at the jet set lounge which will be great fun. This will be backed up by a national tour in the holidays doing 11 towns and cities. Looking forward to it, long time coming but all exciting. Wicked! hope all is well!!! and yes we will be athe Harbour light gibby for some quiet alterations!!!

true. i haven't heard their album yet (hanging out to), but i have both the eps and they are really weak compared to the live show. a shame, cause they got fucking great songs, their recordings are still worth getting and they are still a fucking good band, i'd love to hear a REALLY good live recording.
I think the recordings did encapsulate the live sound. There has to be some slight differences, or there would be no point in seeing any band play live. You paint by numbers some extent in the studio, then rock it out live. This is what the guys do.
how right you are. because they give off such a vibe live, such a raw energy that makes you want to cream your jeans, it is difficult to convey that on a recording. because a recording is only the sound without the atmosphere. and that happens with every great live band. degrees k are lucky they can play so well live. i guess if you are used to hearing bands who make good albums but then don't play as well live you might expect more from a recording then you do from a live performance. i don't know if i've said what i meant. i hope this makes sense.
it is difficult to capture a bands live performance on a recording. degrees k are an amazing live band. not dissing the band in any way (well i might be actually) but i seriously dont think the recordings were as good as they could of been.
rob mayes does their recordings. he is failsafe records. i think for a band on an independent label, with limited financial resources the recordings are as good as can be. sure they could be better if they had big name producers, and big record labels to poor money into their projects. but they don't. it must also be noted that rob mastered the first two eps himself, for financial reasons i guess, but the albulm was mastered by a specialized mastering place (sweet juice i think), so in that regard the first two eps are not of that same quality as the albulm.
i like degrees k. they play good music. i like good music. i wish i could find somebody to play the drums like chris spark. then maybe i could play good music. does he have 3 arms?
WOW degrees.k @ the Rockquest FINAL and @ the Dux on Thursday...these guys are SO good! My ears were ringing for about two days after the dux...they're loud, but deservedly. You won't catch me asking them to be turned down.

I think they will be very famous on ZM if they sorted out who records them. No point trying to be arty when you naturally with out thinking about it sound like a band who would be huge in the mainstream rock world.
