Worth it?

Hey ya,

I'm deciding whether to go along to the Download festival next month- Specifically to see Helmet, Dinosaur Jr, Slayer, Motorhead, MC5, Black Sabbath, an impressive chunk of music that's changed my life in some way- anyway, this would be great if it was all happening at one gig, but the festival goes for like, three days man, and I'd have to deal with all the 'nu-metal' padding booked in between. Since Garbage, Anthrax, SOAD, Billy Idol, & Therapy? are also on the bill, I think I'm going to go anyway, but I'm interested in what you'd do if you were in my shoes?
(When Slayer play, you bet I'll be screaming PLAY SOME SLAYER!!)

Forums: The Bar,

If you pass up the chance to see Motorhead live, it will be the worst thing you've ever done to yourself. Worse than wearing a man-blouse, that's for sure.

No doubt. Also if you get a chance tell Jay Mascus I want my $26.50 back.

...the blouse... forum flashbacks... *sigh* I actually wrecked my blouse recently while doing the ironing, dammit. Now I've got nothing to match the new heels.

$26.50- errr, the solo show at the bodge?? Did you Feel The Pain?

Couldn't be worse than eating a dish of Thai Green Curry from the University of Auckland cafeteria.

/thai green curry

Are we talking too much Campylobacter Jejuni or just not enough ginger?

This one is just chicken pieces swimming in a horrible green milky mixture.

I fear I'll never be able to get the taste out of my mouth. Though self-hypnosis should do the trick.

Oooh, you should talk to Portia about that one...

. . . the fact that you even have to ask makes you retarded

Hey man, the tickets aren't cheap, and when I'm not standing prostrate in fornt of my musical heroes I'll be living in a tiny tent surrounded by thousands of smelly drunken abusive die-hard heavy metal fans who are only there to see Megadeth... the high's so high, but the lows...

//the high's so high, but the lows...

Are totally worth it when you can tell the kiddies how you saw Lemmy Kilmister rocking out back in the day.

shit bro...if the worst things about the festival are seeing Anthrax, Billy Idol and Therapy then it sounds like one kick ass festival.

I know, but (as above) I'm feeling a little weary of becoming part of such a Heavy Metal dominated crowd for three days...

just go man.
have fun.
chill, kick your feet up, get some time to not take life seriously for a couple of days.
it's your chance to let loose.
not my complete metal fancy, but looks good none the less eh.

actually Helmet, Slayer, Motorhead, Black Sabbath sound real good...

I never more than $50 for gigs nemore... which means MORE RAVES!!!!!! :D!!!! Not mention local rock shows in auckland :)

OK, tickets bought, countdown has started... will post a review (?) if anyone's interested... cheers for the advice, this is totally worth it!

don't suppose you managed to hook Glasters tix, did you?

ahh, no... kicking myself, of course. No padding in that line-up as far as I can see:
