When i was 14 or 15 i jumped the fence to AC/DC at Mt Smart Stadium. I remember thinking, i'm never drinking again, this was the coolest band in the world and i'd listen to them for the rest of my life.
Funny how things chang.... umm hang on.

Hmm, at 14 I was dancing the Brooklyn Hustle and convinced I would love Rod Stewart forever; at 15, I was into reggae, well Bob Marley; at 16, I loved th'Dudes, and who wouldn't have? I still love Dave Dobbyn, and Elton John - but Rod Stewart has definitively done his dash with me!
sorry i mean i like rod...

compared to when I was 14 . . . my hair is shorter, my sholders are bigger, I'm taller, I can grow a REAL beard, I have more money, I don't say "I didn't ask to be born" if I get into an argument with my parents, I get into an argument with my parents it's now called a 'discussion' mainly because they have lost the power to threaten me with anything, a weird thing is that all the little kids around me now aren't my friends siblings but my friends children, I'm not a desperate horny virgin, I don't cross my fingers when in a liqour shop . . . . other than that not much has changed . . .

i grew up in a small town, and used to spend hours upon hours down at the river, swimming and jumping off the railway bridge, while my friend's shitty Datsun stereo pumped out heaps of early early Beck, Nirvana, Cypress Hill, and the Beatles White Album. for a while i used to like U2, but now i can't stand them at all. songs like Exit from the Joshua Tree are still good though, but i run screaming in pain when i hear their new stuff. one of us had a video camera and we spent the winter months making zombie movies, or kung-fu movies, or zombie kung-fu movies.

At 14 I thought the Red Hot Chili Peppers would be cool forever - "Mother's Milk" anyone?
Nothing would give me greater pleasure than punching out that dickhead Anthony Keidis - what a travesty that band became...still like to hear Jane's Addiction now and then though - still like The Misfits, still like listening to Hallelujah Picassos...don't like Joe Satriani anymore...
I don't run around trying to be 'weird' and 'alternative'... I'm not a desperate horny fox terrier pup, depressed about girls and my parents etc...I don't think that you just get "discovered" up by a record label then become a millionaire for life ... as much as I miss the fun & innocence of being really young, it kinda sucked too!

When I was 14 I was a little, nerdy, was a girly swot at school, had braces and glasses and probably was a little greasy too. I like nothing better than reading my fantasy novels and playing on the old C64.
Nothing much changed there =D Except I am now in a band instead of an orchestra, don't have
braces, I'm a lot taller and dress a heak of a lot better. I've upgraded to a swish PC, started showering and my own library is now pretty extensive. I think the best bit is I now seem to be slightly attractive to boys and girls. Although now that I am married it don't really matter.

When I was fourteen I heard "siamese dream" for the first time on one of those weird school picnic things you have when the girls are getting hot, you want desperately to try sex drugs and rock'n'roll but you can't get over your fascination with transformers. That album blew my mind. Had been brought up on Alan Parsons Project til' then; I of course got totally obsessed as any alt. teen did with either 1) Smashing Pumpkins 2) Nirvana or 3) Pearl Jam and poured scorn on anyone who didn't like my preference of the three. Beavis and Butthead were cutting edge and cool. God I feel old. I can't wait till I hear the Killers on Classic Hits radio.

14-16: for me it wa a time of change. No longer was I the Geeky Library Boy I once was - Befriended the Metal crowd who showed me that Hostility towards the Popular crowd was always right - something that hasnt changed even 11 years later. I strangely began hanging out in Cemetarys (wasnt goth either - cemetarys gave me peice of mind). Found a new sense of Freedom - Truancy. Started wagging classes in 5th form and rebelling against the actions of the Camp Commanders AKA Teachers. In 5th form I was more than a regular in the Detention room. I was bloody lucky to have passed (only just) 2 Subjects in School C. Ok I do admit, I was given a rough time in 4th form but if i was only smarter back then I would have brought a weapon to school and taken it from there against my tormentors and Facilty cos they did shit to stop it, I mean nowadays the whole idea of bringing a bread knife to school for purposes other than cutting bread is ludicrus but if GWB was President back then, then I would have almost certainly nutured his example of "Pre-Emptive Strikes" in the name of Self Defense.
Today I look back and realise I wasted all me life in Graveyards and soaking up Cannabil Corpse and Deicide songs rather than getting a decent Education. Of course i was on teh Cancer Stix @ 17, Herbal Meds and other Drugs @ 18 and boozing more and more in my early 20s, but i can look back and say "what a life wasted in the name of teenage rebellion". Only now my security Job in bringing discipline, respect and order into a life that has been otherwise Drowned out.

at 14, I was baggy and chain wearing, but to be honest though i like more rock and roll than punk now, my musical tastes are the same pretty much
differences between 14-18 and now
sex = with less people on a regular basis, and generally better
drugs = no drugs and smoking these days, and much better taste in alcohol
rock and roll = more of a CD collection, more discerning, in a decent band

when i was 15 i liked good charlotte. i really, really liked them . because i thought benji was hot.
i had a hideous haircut. really, truly hideous. old people loved it.
when i was 13, i wanted to braid my hair, and a 22 year old guy called arnold.
when i was 14, i wanted to kill myself. that lasted for almost 3 more years.
i went through a mild 'punk/goth' i still wear mainly black, because i LIKE it, and becasue i think it looks hot with black (dyed) hair, and pale skin. i dont over-do it tho.

//i wanted to braid my hair, and a 22 year old guy called arnold
that meant that i WANTED this guy who was 22, and was called arnold. he was hot. i didnt mean that i, you know, wanted to braid him.
