Following the success of their two ep's (which included the singles "Paul Weller" and "Looking Up") Leonard are stoked to be releasing their debut album on May 1st 2003.
After about a month of recording and mixing with Andrew Buckton at Studio 203, this entirely self funded and fully independent album called "An Implied Desire" will be officially released at the Kings Arms on the first day of New Zealand Music month.
The first single from the album will be released to radio soon, so keep an eye out for it.
Thanks for the above post. I thought I might update this area with a bit of news just in case someone checks out this site (haha!).
The first single from the album is called The New Claire Swire and this was released to radio mid March. NZonAir have kindly approved a video grant for the single, so the video should be ready for the Album Release gig at The Kings Arms on 1st May. There's also an album review / article coming out in the April issues of Ripitup and NZmusician so we'll post those when we have them.
Speaking of which......we've just remixed a radio edit of The New Claire Swire, and the video is due out next week, so hopefully this will help it get to radio. We've also just heard that The New Claire Swire will appear on the next Indie Hit Disc - sweet as!

I've just seen the "The New Claire Swire" video on TV4. The song is cool, but the video is boring. Having a bunch of models lipsynching along is boring. Robert Palmer got it right by appearing in his videos with the models, but that faux lead singer in the "Claire Swire" vid is just creepy. The way her eyes follow the camera along... urgh. I'd rather see the band. I hardly know anything about Leonard. I want the hard sell. I want to see the boys being cool rock dudes with their guitars.
The video was disappointing, but the song was yum and very good for me too.
I don't think there was much else they could do... and just think - maybe she was made to do the eye thing to the camera... i wouldn't be able to hold that much talent. Go the eyes!
Um, Yes they are all from 62, and we are sooo rich we bought each one of them a Ferrari.
Ah no not really. However the girls were great and all did a great job on a long shoot, we are
most thankfull to them and the great crew who pitched in their time and equipment for a fun day.
Yeah, making videos: It ain't cheap.
Great tour boys. Thanx heaps for inviting us along, and i think u guys must be pleased with how it finished off, best show of the tour, it was fuckin rockn boys. Listened to the album on the way back to auckland, sounding sweet! Keen to get 2getha again.
Cool, thanx boys. I'll be holding you to that Hammersmith cover next time I see you too!! Yeah, we
were well pleased with touring with you and Vocoder, with a great show from Po-ha on Sat too. Yeah
a great finish in Wellie, esp as we were pretty bummed with our Palmy show and the Masonic too, just not in the groove, but Indigo was a blast, thanks Leanne and Vocoder for a great night, if you're looking to
fill a spot in Wellie again, we're there!
Hey guys....
I'm stoked to have played the same bill as you guys on Sat night! I had a ball watching you strut ya stuff
up there on stage. Very cool and energetic performances.
