It was so good seeing these guys rip the shit out of Tadpole on Tues night. The Lambs were on form too but Paselode definately took first prize for me. Now where's that video?

Yeah, I had never heard of these guys, came down for Marystaple (missed most of their set) and Pluto but was blown away by Paselode - couldn't even dance to some songs, just wanted to hear what he was singing. Need more!!
shame you missed it tamara. surprisingly the place was pretty packed out considering that there was no advertising for it and it was at a dodgy bar on a tuesday night. product are the bogans from hell - the world needs more metal. we've got a couple of gigs in march and we'll be playing a swag of new songs (finally!), so keep your ears open for them. also the album is about a week away from having the final touches completed. who is ray garlton?
nice work dust. we wanted to call it 'good' but that was taken so we decided to go one step further and call it 'great' but then we thought that people would think that we were even more arrogant than we already are. nothing wrong with getting a little cryptic on yo asses though is there. much respect to your lateral mind.
yeah am gutted...but will be there in the front row for the next one! whereabouts is the album going to be sold?? or will ya be havin a release party....fingers crossed!!
my work mates are getting assaulted with the downloads from the website.....so plenty of coverage there..
although the release date hasn't been finalised you'll be able to get the album in "all good record stores". the release party is being organised at the moment even though we don't have a confirmed date yet. it's going to be a great night with lot's and lot's of choice bands. keep on downloading the shit, you won't be able to do it for too much longer. cheers.
Here's an email i got from lucola (keys) about a jam we had last night. he fancies himself as a bit of a reviewer but was too chicken to post it (i think he's to pc illiterate to sign up). any chance of him getting a position at nzmusic.com?
Yet another good jam last night I enjoyed playing with Nick he's a bit of a maestro pity we didn't have an established drummer although you and elan really stepped up to the microphone or the kickdrum as it were.
In fact Im going to post a review on nzmusic.com about our jam last night :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Luke and Elan were rearing to go after downing a few ranfurlies. When Nato and nick turned up with some classier beer a 'killer jam' was definately on the cards. After some polite small talk they made their way over to the 'jam room' where some 'dark riffs' and 'dazzling melodic phrases' ensued. A few hiccups from Elan (drums) were enevitable as he is a fucking shit drummer. Nick stole the show with his real 'hands on' approach to keyboard playing while Nato and Luke kept the ball rolling with some fat(al)ostinatos. All and all it was a thoroughbly enjoyable show despite no one being there to see it. Well, what more can I say it's quite clear this awesome foursome will
(a) be making music for a long time to come
(b) never play together again or
(c) all of the above.
Let me know what you think Nato I know there maybe a few small changes like forgetting to add that you are a homo.
Lots of love
your pal Lucola
just got the last pre-mix last night. not far to go now, just some tweaks here and there. final mixing takes place next week. i can hardly contain myself as you can plainly tell. speaking of containing ones self - what's that about the toilet dust? also the mp3's are gonna be taken off paselode.com very soon - get them while you can.
fair enough..they can do what they want and i think they're damn amazing too. Heard some of their tracks on the site but I kind of agree with tburgess - isn't it about new zealand music, being proud of that, not trying to mimic and copy overseas sounds, shit, we get enough of america without nz musicians trying to sound like them!
It's a bit more over the top then head like a hole you got to admit. Still, I like them heaps, but it's a point to consider
at a recent gig a heckler in the crowd told us that we sound like creed. that's great, everyone is intitled to their own opinion even if we sound nohing like creed. gerome does put a lot a thought and energy in into his vocal phrasing. he prides himself on his pronounciation and his ability to use incredibly long words to his advanantage. even when he's having a conversation he tends to roll his R's. He's just doing what he thinks sounds correct. maybe it's something to do with him living with booga for 3 years. i don't know. not everyone can get away with sounding like paul trigg anyway can they. we're not trying to imitate anyone, we definately respect our influences. check out the track better on the site and then tell us what you think of his singing. i'm gonna go and check out the savant forum now and see if their getting that same treatment.
cheers a bunch.
it's called tall poppy syndrome - isn't new zealand music about writing ya own tunes and playing gigs etc etc - who gives a shit who you sound like really - no one is truly original these days
it's all meant to be fun.......
//I wonder if a band's singer were to adopt an English accent, would people complain? If it is good music I don't really care.
yeah - i think people would think it's weird..i mean if your not british why try to sound like you are? Not bad...just weird. Theres a definate musical style that's british and american etc and it's easy to mimic and copy, or wear your influences but when it comes to the accent it's just a little strange...that's all
who are the other nz bands you think sound american...accent wise?
Singing is one universal accent. It's not american, it's not british, it's universal. Rock and roll stemmed from the cotton picking blues singers back in americas early days, and developed from those beginnings into one universal style of guitar blues/rock music. It's not an american accent persay, it's just how rock and roll, and the blues has always been sung, and played. I don't think of it as american at all, it's a style of expression, and Paselode have hit the nail on the head with that one. -respect boys-
martha over in the "bands that aren't bollix" forum asked why we haven't played up in auckland. it's not that we're lazy it's just that we're waiting for the right gig to come up cause nothing would be worse than going up there as some unknown welly band and playing to 10 people. we played in chch with degrees.K who are well loved there for their ep release which was huge. that's the kind of thing the band is looking for. anyone got any suggestions for bands we could play with? are you in a band and wanna do a gig with us? let me know. nato@paselode.com - cheers.
cheers tamara. maybe i should get you that tee soon aye?
