Menningicoccal B vaccine

So..do u think its a good idea? Under nineteen's, are u going to get the vaccine since it's free? i got mine two days ago and my arm is still a bit sore..well i reckon this vaccine is great NZ's lucky to have something to prevent an epidemic happening...but...waddoyouthink??

I think every parent should have the right to choose whether to vaccinate their children or not. I also think that if you choose not to vaccinate your children against this particular disease you are fucked in the head.

I was one of the last years of 13-year-olds who got the BCG immunisation. I am pleased to say that in the last 17 years, I have not caught tuberculosis and died. Yay!

im a risk taker :p and yes, i know someone who had meningitis, didnt die though...still, it takes A LOT to get me to get immunised. my veins are extremely hard to find, and i am terrified of hypodermic syringes. im currently examing possible ways (in my price-range) to smuggle myself into africa, so i dont have to have all those horrible immunisations against such trivialities as maleria.

i am quite capable of being psychotic WITHOUT the use of pills, thank you very much.

and ok, then, substitute 'malaria' for 'HIV/other nasty diseases'
(im pretty sure they'll have immunisations for that soon)

If you pay taxes, then you've helped pay for the vaccine, you paid for it, you gonna let someone else leach off your taxes?

yea they use a bigger needle than usual cos it has to go into the muscle... and you need three of them too! ive already had two and each time its left my arm really sore for at least two days

Heres guidlines to Doctors...

The Vaccine has not been evaluated in persons with thrombocytopenia or bleeding disorders.

The Data on concomitants are not yet available.

MeNZB has not been specifically evaluated in the immunocomprimised. Anotomical Asplenia or functional AA may mount an immune response and any protection degree is unknown.

Delay if febrile illness. ie 38.5C is ok to shoot.

No adequate data for Pregent Woman.

No lactation safety data.

No prospective efficacy trials have been done with MeNZB!!!!!

The companys trial subjects which was less than 1000 people only lasted 7 Days.
An Adjuvant in the Vaccine is Aluminum Hydroxide, which may have been deemed a possible carcogenic.

I have no idea if any or all of this is true, Ive Posted it up as Im really dubious of both sides of the Vacc debate. Its a hell of a dielemma for Parents.

Chiron had there MMR pulled in Brazil after anaphylatic shock in kids.

I've followed the argument quite closely and I found a lot of the anti-immunisation people had moral/religious objections to immunisation as well as scientific ones. The anti-side also seems to resort to scare mongering a bit more than the pro.

Yeah, G.P.'s a real good place to start.
I tend to use the old Vege chestnut to warm 'em up then enter into Vacc debate.
Theirs quite a bit of passion, and unfortunatley Money is clouding the issue.

the worst one is from those who say society should deal with the poverty issue. So let's let the odd kid die of Menningicoccal B to prove the a point about poverty. That's so fucked up.

we had a similar topic a while back.

under-19s yeh its a start, but they should have gone into the under 30 market as well. as 19-30 have probably an equally higher rate of meninigicoccal as under 19s
