Kinda weird coincidence, but Microsoft just announced they were no longer going to support MSN Messenger for Mac. There may be other software you can use to connect to the MSN network on a Mac (I know there's a few different ones under Windows) but you can still download the current version of MSN Messenger here if you like:

Actually, I just checked and I'm wrong. They're dropping their support for some other MSN related service... so you'll be able to keep getting versions of Messenger for the forseeable future...

Also, here's an alternative bit of software that works with MSN, ICQ, Yahoo, AIM, etc. I use a similar thing called Trillian for Windows and it works real well. It's cool to not have to worry about what network different messaging buddies might be using.

I would go with Adium like Jet suggested, Fire is a bit pissy compared to Adium, which is totally choice. Last time I tried Fire it didn't support icons or file transfers, Adium has all that and I think connects to more than half a dozen different networks. So you can have your MSN, ICQ, Yahoo, Jabber, AIM, etc etc all hooked up at once. Its very nice.

I'm totally loving my new laptop..plus it came with Photoshop 7, Fireworks mx, Flash MX 2004 Professional, Dreamweaver MX, and freehand 10, all for $2475. Seemed quite good.
It's 14", 60 gig hard-drive, and 512 ram, plus all the wireless crap.
