Green Day- WOW

holy shitballs was probly the most spectacular show i have ever seen in my life,

Sommerset got us warmed up and then we kinda cooled down while simple plan were on, but that only allowed us to get energised again for Green day to come on and light us up with some fucken brilliant songs, and loud as fuck Pyro

" We are the Champions" was pretty damm good too

Forums: NZ Music,

and the lucky fucker who got Billie joes guitar

uh..... did he by any chance take off his clothes? if so.. hahahaha. I work with him.

Dylan, he used to play in a Hutt/Wellington band called 'the Minimals'. Great guy. Stoked for him.

Honestly the best show I have seen in my life

Billie Joe Pwned Us

fuck fuck fuck, i should have bought the ticket :( :( :(

did the whole place clear out for simple plan?

Lets hope so. There's only so much bad music that one can bare.

hahah it was fucken funny man like all these girls had been waiting for ages probly you know got there like 4 hours b4 the concert so they could get front row places etc, and hahahaha fucken summerset opened for simple plan hahaha and all these girls couldnt hack it and fucken got pulled out it, then the ones who managed to stay there for simple plan tried to stay for greenday but kept getting crushed hahaha they all thought they could stay but half of them didnt even last the set change from summerset to simple plan

FUCKEN JUSTICE i say

only complaint about North shore is that its very hard to hear the music when you are right up the front, because the speakers protrude out in front of the stage a fair bit, so too feel the full on slaught that was the greenday machine i had to drop back a few rows but other than that WOW,

i would have paid the money just to see greenday without summerset and simple plan

oh and whats with not being allowed to take photos anymore ???? some fucken bouncer guy took my camera off me while in the mosh pit

How is that justice? You are so strange.

ok, all the girls thought they were the shit by getting up the front for simple plan, id say most werent even there for green day who were the main draw card, so then when summerset came out the girls had to leave and didnt get to be up the front for their band, and yet they all thought they could last in the mosh pit,

so in conclusion- the 14 yr old girls who probly werent even there for green day got pushed out, but got pushed out b4 their band came on,they all thought they could handle it and they were tough enough but they couldnt so they got carried out which i think is justice for me anyway, they leave the front so real fans could get there

// the ones who managed to stay there for simple plan tried
// to stay for greenday but kept getting crushed hahaha they
// all thought they could stay but half of them didnt even last
// the set change from summerset to simple plan
// FUCKEN JUSTICE i say

// they leave the front so real fans could get there

oh, like 14 year old girls couldn't possibly be real fans.

do you realise what a sexist asshole you look like by writing all this?

(sigh) probably not worth the aggro, guys..

Someone has to point out the inherent contradictions and downright bigotry of our friend dantheman. And it is kind of amusing, if a little sad, to read his 'justifications'.

oh my god when the fuck did everyone get so PC jesus christ, im sooo sorry if i offended anyone,

how is telling the truth from someone who was there and saw pretty much only girls around the age of 14 and 15 there for simple plan a contradiction...
whats more, they all did get out in summerset because they couldnt handle it, and it was funny seeing them try and struggle to sit through a few sommerset songs so they could see their beloved simple plan but couldnt,

and the ones who did survive tried to stay for green day most of whom probly didnt even know WHO GREEN DAY WERE and wouldnt have known 3/4 of the GD songs that were played, didnt even survive the set change meanwhile taking up the space of many many others who probly deserved to be right up the front more than they did,

they are like someone who shaves their head and claims they have always been a punk ( high fidelity great movie)

it was a crack up seeing them not even survivng 2 summerset songs, i kinda felt sorry for them though i really did waiting all that time and not even gettting to be front row for their band but hey mosh pits are tough environments

half of them were complaining and whinging about being crushed and squashed and sweaty while in the pit and its like "why bother getting into one if you are gona complain????" so you can see how i show very little sympathy for them,

i am sorry if my comments somehow offended you in anyway but its what happened,

its like those people who move next to western springs or the airport and complain about the noise, why go there if you cant handle it????

////you are the one saying that young girls should be banned from seeing particular bands, because the annoy you for some various eye rolling reasons

please quote me when i said that these girls should be banned???? where did i say that please copy and paste it id love to know because as far as i know you made that shit up i never said it, maybe its you who should learn to read not me,

now what was i doing again??? someone tell me what i was saying that was so wrong??? come on tell me i dare you ( fuck if you cant see what i am doing by now then you never will)

// fuck if you cant see what i am doing by now then you never will

please enlighten us then dan.

come on tell me why im being so sexist and biggoted, what i have i said that is so wrong ???

// all the girls thought they were the shit by getting up the front for simple plan

// all these girls couldnt hack it and fucken got pulled out it

// then the ones who managed to stay there for simple plan tried to
// stay for greenday but kept getting crushed

// FUCKEN JUSTICE i say

yeah whats your point noziboy ???^^^^^^^^

now, even though I've listed all the stupid things you've said in this thread, I suspect you still won't grasp the meaning of what it is I'm trying to infer, so I will spell it out for you.

basically, you have been laughing at young girls who have paid good money to go to a concert, and have had a bad time because inconsiderate young men don't know how to act appropriately around them. you are ridiculing almost solely because of their sex. this, dan, not only is this incredibly bad manners, it is also sexist behaviour.

It is true that mosh pits aren't the best place for anyone small to be, but, as has been pointed out many times in this and other threads, if you're small and want to see anything, sometimes you've got to try and get near the front. It's nothing to do with 'knowing what to expect', and it's all to do with 'wanting to see the band'.

to continually ridicule people who have as much right as you do to be in a certain place, not only because they are physically smaller than you, is amazingly inconsiderate. But to also accuse them of some sort of 'inferior' from of fandom because they are younger than you, and girls, is not only sexist, but bigoted behaviour.

i would have said the same if they were young guys there, but then again that would be ok wouldnt it because they are males.....

simple plans fan base prodominatly are teenage girls doesnt take a fucken brain surgen to figure that one out, nothing about being sexist or biggoted its calling it how is aw it why dont you fucken realise that ?????

i dont care if it was fucken dogs in the same position i woiuld still have said that same shit, im not being sexist of biggoted and like i have said i helped a shit load of those girls out of the pit but it was more younger females who were once again trying to get back into it in front of me while im helping these girls out, and its these same ones that tried to push passed me who then wanted to be helped out of the pit because they couldnt handle it, and of course i helped them put but i didnt hold a load of sympathy for them beacause they were less than 2 feet away from the pit so they knew well and good what they were getting in to they were just trying to seize an opportunity to get closer to the band without thinking about what they were getting into and what i was doing that created that gap.

no wonder its so hard for them to get out of a pit when they want there fucken 100 other people who are trying to take their place b4 they are even out of it.

i wasnt meaning to be sexist and im sorry if thats they way you percieved it, like i said it would be the same if it were guys, but it just wouldnt be considered sexist, now would it ???

just so happens simple plans fan base is an overwhelming majority of young teen girls i cant help that not me fucken problem, but they are gona be the ones in mosh pits, so of course they are the ones who i am gona be talking about, but being sexist has nothing to do with it,

but then again you were all so quick tio jump to conclusions you didnt take that into account did you ?

...and around it goes...

I reckon you're taking the high ground, Noizy. We've all been to gig where the young girls are there to be cool (in txting solidarity). They scream the lead singer's name (or at nicest looking one) and then the bitch and complain when it gets a bit rough.

It's not a sexist comment, they always seem to be young girls, not boys. I see it all the time. I'm sure you probably have too.

// I reckon you're taking the high ground, Noizy.

oh yeah, totally. I just can't resist taking the bait from such a fine troll as dan. And I still think it's bad form to gloat over the misfortune of small girls at gigs. I've always thought they've got every right to complain about inconsiderate male moshpit behaviour. Sure you can head to the back, but, well, as has been said before, what's a five foot girl going to see from the back of the venue?

// It's not a sexist comment, they always seem to be young girls, not boys.
// I see it all the time.
// I'm sure you probably have too.

I haven't, actually. Although my gig going is far and few between, and I suspect I go to the sorts of gigs where a gaggle of 14yo kids of either sex are unlikely to turn up. If my experiences of young women talking and txting on public transport is anything to go by, though, I expect you are completely correct.

Females have always been better communicators than males, after all.

// inconsiderate male moshpit behaviour.

I'm there on this one. As a sort of average size guy, I occasionally have trouble in moshpits.... the worst being having had my glasses flicked off somehow. I still have no idea how I managed to catch them...
And er while I've worn a fair few punches from a young lass trying to edge me off the front barrier at a gig once; hands down the worst people at gigs are the 18-19 year old guys. They're at their first gigs where they can drink, and they tend to be violent and inconsiderate.

Thinking of good crowds though, I loved the femmes last week. I honestly can't remember the last gig I went to a gig where I felt young. It was hilarious. I was chatting to a guy next to me who was all defensive because he was 22, and was at great pains to emphasise that he wasn't there just for Blister in the Sun...

////think it's bad form to gloat over the misfortune of small girls at gigs

i wasnt gloating over anything, but hey if you fucken push passed other people to get further in a mosh pit and then complain because its too rough thats your own fucken fault, i will help you out of it but i wont sympthise with you especially when you are half the size of others, sure they may be wanting to get closer but whats more important, your life and viewing a good show or getting crushed by other people while trying to get to the very front ( where the sounds wasnt even that great anyway )

the stage at greenday was set up as such so there was a runway type thing down the middle you know the "T" shaped stage, over the otherside was all young girls around the same height too from what i could see so why did these 20 or so girls choose to join the side where they all seem to be big tall late teen early 20 aged males ????? WHY oh god Why do it ???

at the gigs i go to theres people taller than me too but do i complain NO i go find somewhere else where i can see better or shift my body so i can see between the two people, i like being stuck behind tall people it gives me something to hold on to when the mosh pit gets rough,

you should have seen them simple plan were warming up the slightest glimpse of someones leg and they were all screaming, its fucken annoying sure they are having a good time i respect that but man there must be another way to express urself other than squeling the loudest you can out the lead singers name because hes " like totally so hot".

and like i said simple plans fan base is prodominatly young teen girls so of course im gona be talking about them,

see so im not so sexist afterall am i ??? nothing biggoted or sexist about it and once again i apologise if some people took it that way, but it wasnt intended that way

/////hands down the worst people at gigs are the 18-19 year old guys. They're at their first gigs where they can drink, and they tend to be violent and inconsiderate.

YESSSSSS, its the same at the cricket and rugby, they end up not even being there for the sport concert, they end up fighting and getting thrown out,

i myself do not drink when i got the such events, im there act or sport i mean thats wat i bought the ticket for right?and im places like mosh pits where sweat in inevitible and dehydration is a matter of time i dont see the point in drinking alcohol or smoking weed as it only increases the rate at which they occur,

i am yet to see a gig at The Shed in pakuranga where a fight has not broken out, elemeno P - there was a fight, twice now ive seen the feelers theres, theres been fights, when i first went there after i turned 18 there were fights there, (maybe its just the place)

yellowcard there was a fight ( dont even think they were drinking)
BDO i have seen numerous fights

dantheman, the primary issue that I have with you is just the fact that you're notoriously insensitive. A bunch of (girls/short people/whoever) find themselves in a bad situation and the only thing you mention is laughing at them and calling justice when they have to leave. someone mentioned a girl that died in a moshpit, and the very next thing you say is that they bring it on themselves. I don't know many people that jump into a moshpit thinking that there's a chance the experience will kill them. And I'm sure that girl's parents aren't consoled by the notion that she brought it on herself. Probably the moshpit isn't the place for small girls, but it's the height of savagery to scoff and say "told you so" when people they inadvertently find themselves out of their depth.

So yeah, my biggest issue, and most likely the main reason you keep finding yourself a victim of the nzm circle jerk, is that in all your ramblings, you've never, ever displayed any compassion or consideration at all, ever. You're more concerned with upholding your right to complain about entire demographics - homos, asians, short people at concerts, you name it, without giving a thought to the fact that your sweeping generalisations are really unfair.

// i wasnt gloating over anything

this is the third time I've cut'n'pasted this...

// the ones who managed to stay there for simple plan tried
// to stay for greenday but kept getting crushed hahaha they
// all thought they could stay but half of them didnt even last
// the set change from summerset to simple plan
// FUCKEN JUSTICE i say

dan, do you even know the meaning of the word 'gloating'?

so the fact that i helped alot of them out from the pit just washed straight over you did it? and i have already said that

no compassion and sympathy- i have plenty- just none for the girls OR GUYS for that matter who push passed me while im helping out someone, so they can get closer only to find they are in over their head, YES i help them out if they want BUT i still dont feel sorry for them, they KNOW what they are getting into, and then theres the ones that you can see are in trouble you ask if they wanna be lifted out like a few i asked on sat nigth, they say they are fine but yet still compain about being pushed around, how the hell are you meant to feel sorry for them??? they have chosen to stay there its not my fault its thiers, if they wanan get out ill help them but if they dont hey thats your choice but let me knwo when you wanna get out but dont moan and whinge about getting knocked around.

its like being at the beach, declining sun screen when someone offers it to you them moaning coz you get sun burnt, really its your own stupid fault nothing insensitive about it

that girl who died her parents sued limp bizkit ? or did they sue the venue??? i cant rememer

what eventaully happend in that case????

look im sorry if what i said sounded insensitive, sexist or watever else you guys can find, but it is what happened, and it wasnt just me that were looking at these girls who so eagerly pushed passed us in the pits and going " you fucken idiots why would you do that only to find you get squashed"

but come on havent you ever looked at someone who is so confident and set about doing something they dont ask for help the refuse help when its offered and said " you are an idiot " and found that all you can do is laugh at their stupidity????? its not a mocking laughter its just a " well i have done everything i can its up to them " laughter, you know what i mean ???

and also my god when the clump together those girls are exteremly tight and solid as a unit too

Uh oh, we're all breaking out the italics now.

Did you ask all (or even any) of the young girls if they were only there for Simple Plan?

And how can you talk about High Fidelity? You probably haven't even read the book. You probably don't even know there's a book! How dare you go along and enjoy the movie??????

////Did you ask all (or even any) of the young girls if they were only there for Simple Plan

well the fact that a shit load of them all said " im only here for simple plan" and yes i did actaully ask a few who they were here for and the response was "simple plan" that kinda gave it away, as i over heard while waiting to get in, and if they new much about GD it would ony be because of their new album and the singles off it .

and well like i said the majority of them left after the SP set so that was another dead give away who the main act in their eyes was.

how dare i speak about High fidelity, i havent read lord of the rings either but i saw the movies "my gosh what a monster i have become"

////Someone has to point out the inherent contradictions and downright bigotry of our friend dantheman.

why dont you do it jess....

//how dare i speak about High fidelity, i havent read lord of the rings either but i saw the movies "my gosh what a monster i have become"

why dont you do it jess....

Do you ever have a really stiff neck at night from looking up at all the things flying over your head by day?

Hey, there was this race that my uncle was in...

I think my work here is done.

// and the ones who did survive tried to stay for green day most of whom probly didnt even know WHO GREEN DAY WERE

Oh yeah! Because Green Day are real underground!

now most likely because they have just come out of the britney spears phase and into the cool pop punk phase,

and if you had continued reading, i said something like " they only know them from their latest album"

"most of whom probly didnt even know WHO GREEN DAY WERE and wouldnt have known 3/4 of the GD songs that were played"

my 11 year old (female) cousin has every single one of greendays albums and would know every single word of every one of greendays songs. She knows more about them than i do.....and she is only 11!

// and if you had continued reading, i said something like " they only know them from their latest album"

So you're saying that they should have taken the time to find out a little bit more about the band and checked out their other albums ie: done some research?

then your 11 yr old cousin has a great taste in music.

done some research- no thats not what im saying at all, i dont care if they dont know a band, but if you are going to occupy a mosh pit for a band you dont like then whats the point? you are getting crushed and sweaty and hot and tired for nothing

most people stopped listening to Green Day when they were 13 or 14 bro.

'dantheman' - I'd have to concur with noizyboy's observation of just how bad you look with regard to this particular side of your nature, although I'd amend his observation slightly to 'sexist cornhole', if only because it sounds quite porno.

You speak of justice in such a wierd & twisted way. Have you ever had any life experience that could conceivably be described by the term 'live and let live' ? You may wish to apply this to your concert-going experience. It will help you. Of course, I am assuming & predicting here (like you have done a fair amount of in this thread) that you are not a dwarf and/or short-sighted and had no trouble seeing or hearing whichever band from whatever row you chose in the crowd. Perhaps you are still a little deaf after a show, but aren't we all?

Am I incorrect perhaps? Are you in fact a sexist-cornhole dwarf with shit for brains and no concept of respect for other humans? Or are you a Green Day fan? Is there a difference? Can I be bothered defining a difference right now? No.

wow once again the PC side of the world comes out in full flares,

doesnt anyone have a sense of humour any more???

no i am not a sexist dwarf cornhole with shit for brains, but i am a greenday fan so you decide...

i didnt stop listening to greenday when i was 13 or 14,

and by the looks of the crowd at Nth Shore on saturday night neither did alot of other greenday fans

// doesnt anyone have a sense of humour any more???

// and all these girls couldnt hack it and fucken got pulled out it,
// then the ones who managed to stay there for simple plan tried
// to stay for greenday but kept getting crushed

obviously not the same sort of sense of humour as you.

Man. I wish I'd read this earlier. Hilarity ensued.

I can see points from both sides. There's something incredibly annoying about that feeling of a hand creeping around and shoulders trying to push you out of the way. However, I dunno about anyone else but if the people around you are nice, and they generally are, I'm more inclined to feel protective of them. Especially if they're wee ones. That said, I don't tend to go to shows where there is a moshpit these days. When there is one, in say Bodega, the whole pushing thing is somewhat comical. The first time drunk 18 year old males are by far the worst offenders. One day they'll learn that keeping your drink in your glass is more important.

Anyway, I went to my first concert when I was 14 and I had a great time bouncing around like an idiot... moshing like how I'd seem them do in a Pearl Jam video. When I went to see Pearl Jam at Queens Wharf I was 17, couldn't have loved the band more, and lasted less than 3 songs near the front. Unfortunately being a foot shorter than the guys around me, it was impossible to escape being pushed under by their shoulders. Same deal with Soundgarden the year before. And fuck it, I "deserved" to be at the front just like all those guys. Had all the albums. Knew all the songs off by heart right down to each individual grunt (thank you Eddie Vedder).

I survived a million Shihad, HLAH... Breathe (hehehehhehehe) gigs when I was a youngster, having the absolute shit kicked out of me, and if I'd known what was good for me I would probably have gotten the hell out of the front, but I refused to be pushed out just because I was a girl (am... AM a girl)

Those girls at the GreenDay concert were very brave to stay for as long as they did and to give it a go. You don't know what any moshpit is going to be like until you're in the middle of it. And if they're at the front and they're 5 foot, they're not getting in anyone's way and it's a damn sight easier to stay upright when you have a barrier to cling to than when you're struggling to find a space to plant your feet in the middle of the moshpit void. Always remember, wear sensible shoes.

http://www.ratpony.com ]

come on you have to see the funny side in little teeny boppers thinking they can hold their own in a mosh pit, by going out of their way to get into the front only then realising they cant and have to surf out after like two songs from sommerset

// the PC side of the world comes out in full flares

You discriminate on the type of pants people wear as well??

//doesnt anyone have a sense of humour any more???

Yes. That's what makes this thread such compulsive reading...

//many many others who probly deserved to be right up the front

If they deserved to be up the front, maybe they should have showed their commitment and deservedness by waiting up the front as well.

ah, crap, I seem to have caught it as well
