Sebadoh? they're pretty much ...
Sebadoh? they're pretty much worshipped around the world methinks. that's like saying that people ought to be more aware of the need for food and shelter. many people here have Sebadoh in their DNA, they love them so much. they simply have nothing to prove, they are so good, and have been so good for so long. ah, Bakesale, i would shag you if you were a sentient being.
my trouble is that i'm stuck listening to music from the nineties. i hardly ever listen to anything new these days, and when i do i'm so often disappointed that i get angry. like a bad movie taking away two hours of my life, that sort of anger. heh.

"Bakesale, i would shag you"
Yow. Keep those weird thoughts away from my copy! So, what are yor thoughts on this then:
"...Dinosaur Jr., one of the most legendary indie rock bands of the 80's, are reuniting to play the Fuji Rock Festival in Japan with shows in the UK to follow..."

...Lowenstein's 'At Sixes & Sevens' (2002) was way more vital to me than any of Barlow's solo output. Apparently he's been doing a lot of 'engineering and producing' in the last year- I can't see anything about new recordings from him though...
(...not that Lou isn't brilliant, I just like Jase's stuff better... ;P)

Dude, I don't think I'm alone in saying Dream Theater is the biggest load of shit released as music ever. Who the fuck cares that Petrucci can play twenty eight notes a second? Not me. I'd like to see him write a fucking song that has merit beyond technical prowess. You only have to look at those fuckers to see they're stuck in the eighties - nice perm jobs, dicks.

The Cynic has been away for a while
I dropped some acid last week
and spent the last few days believing I was a tractor called elvis.
You should see my back lawn now though
all planted full of turnips
the cynic family won't know what to do with themselves next harvest!
Now on the dream theater topic
I like DT but personally I couldn't give that much of a shit about them.
I was mirroring your behaviour
because I thought it would be funny
I'm sorry Teve
but I cannot mirror that dumb for too long.

Chickenyard. Have their own thing happening, which is good.
They are their own band, which sadly isnt something I get to say too often.
Sky Like Skin. Apparantly Drummer issues at present, lets hope it is sorted quickly.
Some well good tunes and a top vocalist.
Ishtar. Whilst I have not seen this band live, I have heard a 2track demo that I and several others here in Christchurch really enjoyed. Tunes and Chops, a lethal combination for someone who still listens to Billy Cobham's "Spectrum".

Thanks for the plug mr Foal. Will return the favour.
Equuslive, likewise haven't seen but wicked cd. Kick arse horn section, wicked rhythm section, guitar tone to die for (cool low mids) and excelent player to boot. Cool songs and eclectic. Ditto for Hardfill.
Duat is extremely catchy.
Exiter- Great songs, good musos, a great vibe when they play. You can't help but feel good.
Angelsound- Kick arse hard rock group. Great songs, great look. Should push the 'King Kong' song as a single in my humble opinion.
These Four Walls- High energy rock- A cool new spin on the whole Nu Metal thing.
Battle Circus- Wicked songs, great chops. coolest band site in NZ?
I dunno if she is still performing but Christine White would have to be one of the better singer- songwriters I've come across. Kinda cool how these little Paul Mcartney and Bob Dylan influences just jump out of certain songs.
Remote- Words can barely describe their beautifully orchestrated wall of sound.... so I'm not going to try.
Ishtar rock and play their instruments ...
Ishtar rock and play their instruments like demons, easily one of Auckland's best rock acts. wicked list of great kiwi bands up here too Si all also some of auckland's best rock acts.

Richard Thompson
Find out more about him (and his ex-wife Linda) here:
He's simply the greatest guitarist who has ever lived and in terms of songwriting, think of an English Tom Waits (though he is very much an individual).

Cheers Ishtar For the plug :) You guys rock!!!
Ill strat off by plugging my own band - These Four Walls (www.thesefourwallsband.com) I wouldn't say nu metal, more like Ballsy Rock.
Like A storm are another loca band. These Guys Rock!!! Unfortunately, they are heading over to Canada in May, so there is very little time to catch them before they go. BTW they used to be called fluid, and had a single called Dirty Industry about a year ago. www.likeastorm.com
Two other bands we gig with often are This Found Favour and Miscreant. Both bands kick ass

Hmmm. I'd have to say Battle Circus, we played with them last night and I thought they were awesome. Also, These Four Walls, are really good, and Sonic, and the Powerlordz.
Naturally I would say more people need to know about my band, but the more people that knew about us, the more people there would be to think we suck :s

Loop were pretty good eh?
I reckon the first Medicine album was great and I wish more people who like that sort of post-Jesus & Mary Chain stuff had heard that. They were taking things like Loop and My Bloody Valentine's 'Loveless' somewhere brighter and more "pop" than "rock"... it's still swamped in a wall of distortion, massive solos that could just be short wave radio through an amp, etc. so in some ways is harder to listen to, but it's great anyway.
I reckon James are strangely neglected. 'Laid' is great for that kind of folky almost MOR stuff. SoldierBoy should hear it, at least.

Wicked, someone else likes Loop! theres absolutely nothing on them anywhere that I can find. not even any fan sites.
I'll check out medicine, I haven't heard of them but they sound really interesting. a pop injection into the dirge and drone that can be loop & MBV sounds kinda nice....
Souvlakis a great record. I have a soft spot for his solo record as well though for some reason.
