my trouble is that i'm stuck listening to music from the nineties. i hardly ever listen to anything new these days, and when i do i'm so often disappointed that i get angry. like a bad movie taking away two hours of my life, that sort of anger. heh.

Dude, I don't think I'm alone in saying Dream Theater is the biggest load of shit released as music ever. Who the fuck cares that Petrucci can play twenty eight notes a second? Not me. I'd like to see him write a fucking song that has merit beyond technical prowess. You only have to look at those fuckers to see they're stuck in the eighties - nice perm jobs, dicks.

Cynic has gone off the powerlordz a little as of late. I did like them years ago as confessor though.

Loop were pretty good eh?

I reckon the first Medicine album was great and I wish more people who like that sort of post-Jesus & Mary Chain stuff had heard that. They were taking things like Loop and My Bloody Valentine's 'Loveless' somewhere brighter and more "pop" than "rock"... it's still swamped in a wall of distortion, massive solos that could just be short wave radio through an amp, etc. so in some ways is harder to listen to, but it's great anyway.

I reckon James are strangely neglected. 'Laid' is great for that kind of folky almost MOR stuff. SoldierBoy should hear it, at least.

Wicked, someone else likes Loop! theres absolutely nothing on them anywhere that I can find. not even any fan sites.

I'll check out medicine, I haven't heard of them but they sound really interesting. a pop injection into the dirge and drone that can be loop & MBV sounds kinda nice....

Souvlakis a great record. I have a soft spot for his solo record as well though for some reason.
