Hey, Im also a guitarist in the Howick region looking to start a band. I've been playing for a few years now, and have good equipment. My influences are bands like Led Zeppelin, The Mars Volta, 67 Special, The Datsuns, Tool etc. As far as musical direction I was thinking something along the lines of bluesy, classic rock, with some experimental stuff thrown in.
