Does anyone remember the chick band Growler?

The front women was pretty good, she sang and played guitar. Saw them absolutely AGES ago at the Kings Arms- 2000. She impressed me but I cant remember what kind of style she played.

I reckon Bic is probably actually pretty fucken good on the guitar, it just doens't suit her style of pop to crank solos out and play licks, maybe she can't play "surfing the alien" by Satriani... but who wants to?

these other girls above play Lead guitar though, so you can see them play not just rythym, but still, don't under estimate the playing skills of a pop singer/songwiter. Eg: Jordan Reynes old radio stuff was pretty tame guitar wise, then she went nuts in dr kervokian with crazy shit, now her newer solo stuff is a bit more free of pop format and the guitar shows through a bit more.

There's Jan Hellriegel (who was in a group called Cassandra's Ears, but is probably better known her for solo stuff).

Hm, I don't think any guitarist who happens to be female would be too thrilled to be in a "chick guitarist" list. When you give people a handycap, it implies that they need one.

No, I wasn't refering to the "chick" call at all, I don't give a fuck what word you use for female. I was pointing out the fact that a good guitarist who just happened to be female, might not be so into this list, and that by making this forum you are implying that you do think female guitarists need a handycap. If you didn't it would have been a "top nz guitarist" list. Anyways, it's not a big deal, was just adding my 2 cents.

Ok, I just think there are a lot less female musicians around, considering most bands people go and see are populated by mostly males, most of the time. Which sucks, but that the way it is. A general 'best guitarist' forum would reflect that fact.

I apologize to any female guitarist that did not want to be mentioned, but being an outstanding musician in the public eye- and being noted for it, should be a good thing. so i thought.

If musicians, male or female, don't like being noticed and complimented, maybe they are in the wrong profession.
