Forums: The Bar,

Professional looking site, although messageboard didn't work for me.
Video footage was a bit rough & grainy.......

that was kind.

//although messageboard didn't work for me.

nothing really worked for me, I got to home.htm page & thats all!!

// Video footage was a bit rough & grainy.......

ahh..looks like the old "film age, oldest" filter in microsoft movie maker. not a good idea.

yeah the video footage was pretty bad, but it was taken with a fairly low quality digital camera and pieced toghether, believe it or not the filter makes it look better than without it. we hope to have some kind of useful video up soon

The most hilarious thing is that each band member lists as an influence the respective Led Zeppelin member to their role in the band. Because heaven forbid that a bassist could be influenced by a guitarist, how dare a drummer be inspired by a singer, etc.

It's not that we're not inspired by musicians that don't play our instruments, it's just that we're listing our major influences on our instruments. If we listed ALL of our influences, there's no doubt names of people who don't play our corresponding instruments would come up. I mean, come on. Who is a 16 year old drummer more likely to be influenced by and identify with, Robert Plant the man up front or John Bonham who does the same job as you do but better?

The listing of influences is so teen metaller magazine - it's akin to listing your star signs. Notice how those cool musicans you like don't list their infuences on their websites.

How about being the kind of band that influences others?

// Notice how those cool musicans you like don't
// list their infuences on their websites.

ah, but the thing is, everyone already knows what those cool musicians sound like. It's a tricky line to walk when you want to get people to listen to some of your tunes without them knowing anything about you - a few influences (or, preferably, "we sound a bit like...") pointers can make the difference to people clicking on that mp3 download or not.

Because at the other end of the spectrum lies my most hated of band bio claims...

"Our music defies genres and easy classification."

// It's a tricky line to walk when you want to get people to listen to some of your tunes without them knowing anything about you.

Ah, chroo, chroo. I suppose it's easier now that the interweb has come along and bands can put up mp3s to give people an idea of what they sound like.

But it's still painful reading a rock bio written by band members whose strengths lie in writing and performing music and not in writing rock bios.

Was the idea that inpiration coming from a band member who plays a different instrument, debased or disproved at all, we only listed the individual members of led zeppeling respective to our roles because we truly feel inspired by each particularily more than the band as a unit, and did so prior to our bands formation. thanks for your posts though.

800x600 resolutions cant view it, and occasionally non IE browsers dont cope

Well I decided to check out the website. Why does no one list Kings of Leon as their influence, because you've obviously ripped off their font with your band logo. I looked at the first profile and was quite excited to see that the chords and vox guy listed Dolf de Datsun as one of his influences. Then I decided to download "My Generation" because I thought Dolf's voice singing The Who would be great. It was like subjecting my ears to a meat grinder. The music itself sounded good until the lead singer came in. I wanted to tear out his vocal box, throw it off the world's tallest building, before tossing into Mount Etna. If I were you, I'd get myself a new vocalist. So I then downloaded the video. Are you actually a band? Because I could only see one guy in the video. The whole band need to be shown to fully represent who you guys are. I guess it's probably typical "Lead singer mentality"! Also, if the site doesn't work with 800x600, then why don't you fix it? I thought you would be doing as much as you possibly could to get people viewing your website.
//led zeppeling
Who?
Having said all this though, maybe you

Having said all that though, maybe your originals are good. I'm off to download them and give em a whirl.

If you don't want to 'subject your ears to a meat grinder', fine, don't listen. But just bugger off, and don't try to defend yourself by complimenting the rest of the band, when you have a go at one of us, you're having a go at all of us. Worry about yourself rather than posting malicious little comments about our lead singer.
Thanks.

By that same token, surely if you don't want to subject your individual band members to the metaphorical meat grinder of criticism then calling for people to make posts about them probably isn't the best idea, based on how easy it is for people to slag off others on NZm, and how frequently it happens? I mean, at least he was offering some positive feedback, that's more than a lot of people might.

maybe you fellas should of posted . . . .

//please please please visit our site listen to the track or just explore the site and then comment only about the things you liked on our forum, please nothing negitive cause we don't like that, cause its not very nice, thank you, we are looking forward to your glowing simley replys.

No, maybe we should have posted...

Hi we're the lastimes, if you're going to criticize us at least listen to more than one song, especially a live recording of one.

I don't mind criticism, as long as it's constructive and voiced intelligently, rather than having a go at someone's spelling mistakes.

// I mean, at least he was offering some positive feedback, that's more than a lot of people might.

I'm only one person!!!!

oh shit, a TYPO, is that really such a grave thing or vast indication of anything? yeah the singer had lost his voice the morning of the show, though he doesnt have a particularily impressive voice, but you misunderstand the word influences...because it doesn't read SOUNDS LIKE. Thanks for the feedback, but you could've angled it more at constructive critiscism than being obnoxious about it.

OH and as to the King of leon.. yeah we should've listed them as an influence, because we just wrote a song with a very KOL feel to it, but the font certainly wasn't stolen nor do I think it particularily ressembles the KOL one.

KoL? Somedbody mentioned KoL?

It's Porktober time in KoL, time to Trick'o Treat!

//Alex often emulates his idol Keith Moon in all but dress.//

in all but dress? he's got john bonham's hat, thats why he doesn't dress like mr. moon!

It is a pretty sweet hat

when are you fools playing in wellington?

Hopefully sometimes in the future man, just the band have a lot of commitments up here at the moment.

but we would like to do some shows down country

you like our stuff?
we should have some kind of decent studio recording soon (fingers crossed)
