Some kind of documentary...

Some kind of monster the doco on metallica has been released...

thoughts and opinions from those who have seen it..

it wasnt as great as i thought it would be, i expected there to be alot more shit flying around with jason and dave mustaine, than there was in the dvd,

in saying that though this dvd did give a pretty up close and personal insight into how close they were to breaking up altogether, and how this namby pamby shrink get in touch with your feelings shit could actaully work...

maybe if pantera(minus the fact that dimebag is dead of course), guns n roses had been thought it would they still be together today?????

Comments

please forgive me if this post doubles up, my comp at work sucks and i had to refresh the page to see it and it must have sent the info twice or something

//it wasnt as great as i thought it would be

Yeah. I think after Rob Reiner (This is Spinal Tap) quit, the creative processes for the movie really went downhill. It didn't really help that that the characters and music and band they created didn't really work that well as a concept.

everyones a comedian huh?

naturally.... but some of us have to try

cant knock someone for trying now can you

Isn't it on at the movies? I quite want to see it..

yeah but only at queen st, and rialtos it hink

its out on dvd in the video shops though too

it hink = i think

Speaking of docos, I'm looking forward to this one:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0427312/ ]

That looks really interesting. As an aside, according the filmaker's wife:

//Lena Herzog, Werner's beautiful, formidable Siberian wife, describes an agreement made a few years ago between television's two nature giants -- National Geographic and the Discovery Channel: When showing animals mating, show no more than three thrusts. "Three! " Lena cries, incensed. "Now they are censoring the animals! And," she continues, in the hushed tones of a spy, "in the last year we noticed the thrusts have been reduced to one. One thrust!"

"It's Bush," Werner Herzog mutters.

"It's appalling," Lena continues. "No wonder American women are frustrated. What's worse is that no one has said anything -- not a single word." //

Taken out of context, the last bit of dialogue is pretty amusing:

//"It's Bush," Werner Herzog mutters.

"It's appalling," Lena continues. "No wonder American women are frustrated. What's worse is that no one has said anything -- not a single word."//

hee hee

I might buy it, hmmmmm................. probaly will

ok I brought it today & have watched part of it, some funny & interesting bits, their little fights, bits with Jason & Dave Mustine.
I reckon it was quite that they showed the other bassist's that tried out, like Scott Reeder from Kyuss, Jordie White (Twiggy), Eric from Janes Addiction, Chris from Nine Inch Nails, etc

i would like to know who tried out but wouldnt let them use the footage. there must be something somewhere.

//there must be something somewhere.

yeah locked in the basement of Metallica HQ

//Chris from Nine Inch Nails

typo, his name is Danny not Chris

has anyone seen "Brothers Keeper", or "Paradise lost" they were the two previous docos the film makers from Some kind of monster made,

have you seen Cath and Kim do cardonay? epic.

FUUUUCK did anyone see that doco on Prime last night about the movie 'Bum Fights'? Maaan it was some unpleasant viewing! Fucked up teenagers in the US paid homeless alcoholics to fight each other and do all kinds of demeaning shit.... tattooed foreheads and the like. What's the world coming to etc etc.

I didn't see that one - the best doco I've seen in a while is the one on Luddock, Texas, about the abstinence movement that's working oh-so-successfully.

I think it's a sign of a good doco when you want to put your fist through someone's head.

I'm haunted by the shot of this dude's broken ankle... aaaaaaaahouuuuch

I was going to watch it, but wasn't home at the time & forgot about it

// What's the world coming to etc etc.

Channel 4 in the UK is doing a reality TV in which the "contestants" are tortured in ways which seek to replicate what is believed to be happening in Guantanemo Bay.

People are suggesting there's something positive in that, but... no. There's not.

Best doco I've seen recently is 'Outfoxed', re: Rupert Murdoch and FOX News. Just a great big "THIS IS SO FUCKED!!!" but in a much more rigorous (and much less hysterical) fashion than Mike Moore's recent efforts.

//but in a much more rigorous (and much less hysterical) fashion than Mike Moore's recent efforts.

yes, but does that film maker have their own Ben & Jerry flavour now?

speaking of mike moore
look out for F9/11 and a half
