The Black Keys?

In the weekend paper, it spoke about how there were a huge amount of gigs coming up, and the large amount of international bands coming over to new zealand in the next couple of months.

One of these were the black keys. Does anybody know anything more at all about this? They are playing in Australia, the last tour date the 19th March. Then they have a gap of one month and start touring again in America on the 19th April...which leads to time for taking a trip down here to play... Anyone? Know anything at all? Rumours? Gossip? Etc?

Forums: The Bar,

I heard someone mention it on the radio. But they may have been reading it from the paper. Fingers crossed!

There is an interview on Popmatters where Dan Auerbach says there will be a tour of Australia and New Zealand in March. There was also a wee mention of them being here in the Herald - their "what's on" page is disabled today, so I don't know the dates, but it looks definite that they'll be here. Nice.

Turns out the gig has been confirmed! March 21st Kings Arms, with The Fiery Furnaces!
This from Loudmouth:
The Black Keys finally announce a a New Zealand show in support of their awesome RUBBER FACTORY album release of Spring 2004 (the follow up to their successful THICKFREAKNESS long player of 2003).

The raw soul and primal garage stomp of the Black Keys continues to electrify fans and media worldwide and it seems that every time these two set foot on a stage or in a studio a whole lot of good happens and a whole lot of people totally dig it.

Supporting the Black Keys, another duo from the States - The Fiery Furnaces.

Siblings - from the Chicago area. Known to BFM listeners for the much spun track, "Crystal Clear" with its instant catchiness... the Fiery Furnaces have recently released their second album, Blueberry Boat.

Hooray!

Oh, apparently this is thanks to the Velvet Tiger folks. Yay!

Hannah I love you, thank you for the update. I must go off and take some camomile tea to calm myself down now. My brother isn't appreciating my screaming.

I love velvet tiger also.

Wow - this might just be my dream duo - Fiery Furnaces and the Black Keys. Pretty much unavoidable.

fuck auckland. fuck it up its stupid ass.

who are the other international bands coming over to new zealand in the next couple of months that are mentioned?

Where can you get tickets from? ... If you're from Hamilton?
