I like Cat Power, but have heard many ...

I like Cat Power, but have heard many times of her completely erratic live performances. From what I've heard she's very much gold one night, turds the other.

A friend in Melbourne told me about seeing her one night when she kept freaking out and failing to finish songs before suddenly running from the stage after about 20 minutes...

I like her quiet stuff most... 'The Covers Record' is lovely, plus these two tracks on an Oz compilation called 'Live & Direct'. Apparently they're her playing guitar in her kitchen. The sound guys hid in the other room because she was getting embarrassed.

Apparently she does well in a seated-venue situation, which is why it is being held at the Paramount instead of another venue. So far (all fingers and toes crossed) there have been no problems during seated performances. Also, she will be joined by her acoustic guitar and a Baby Grand piano.

It makes it all the more interesting and exciting never quite knowing the show you're going to get. Chan is unique, no too ways about it. I have a feeling that people who miss this show are going to be regretting it for some time.

Yeah, I too have heard that Cat Power is pretty crazy live, but I'll be going anyway.
