Tsunami Relief Fund Gig - 15th Jan - Studio, Ak

Top Recording Artists Play New Zealand First Charity Event

More than 20 of New Zealand's most popular recording artists are confirmed to play at a charity music event this Saturday (15 January), which will raise money for the tsunami survivors’ relief fund. ‘The Gig’, already recognised as a New Zealand first in terms of concert fundraising for an international disaster, will take place at Auckland’s newest, premier live music venue The Studio.

The event will showcase a wide range of musical genres from hip-hop and electronica to rock and pop with artists such as Stylus, Fast Crew, Jordan Luck, K'Lee, T, Augustino, Tadpole and DJ Logical to name a few. Also confirmed are Chang from The Edge radio station and Bruce from Juice TV, who will act as MC’s on the night.

Interest in the gig has rocketed over the last couple of days with event organizer Paul Marshall citing an unrivalled level of support and enthusiasm from the industry at large. “What started out as an idea 10 days ago is now a reality. It’s going to be a great gig and we hope that New Zealanders see it as an opportunity to show their support to the thousands of people affected by the Tsunami while enjoying some of New Zealand’s best bands live,” says Paul.

Leading Kiwi musicians have been quick to sign up to play at the eight-hour live gig with the complete line-up consisting of Stylus, Fast Crew, Tadpole, Jordan Luck, Streetwise Scarlet, Cold by Winter, DJ Logical and Dvs, K’Lee, Augustino, T, Wash, Autozamm, Crumb, Exit, Michelle Nadja, Kat McDaull, Epitome, Redline and Taaz

Fast Crew’s, Jerome Fortune, says that the hip-hop group were keen to do their bit to help. “We’ve had some hard times over the years and we’re thankful to all the people that supported us, so it’s great to do our bit and help people out when people need it the most,” says Jerome.

The multi-genre, multi media audio visual show will cater for all ages with doors opening at 4pm and closing at midnight. A separate R18 section will operate in the upstairs area where the venue’s lead beer brand, Export Gold, will be on sale.

Studio doors open at 4pm for ticket sales, with all proceeds from the $35 door sales going to the Red Cross’s Tsunami Relief Fund.
