Undercarriage- Where are they now?

Does anybody know of this kiwi band?...one of their songs used to play on Channel Z about eight years ago,all this before the radiostation had abit of a more recent re-vamp.I've now forgotten the name of the song by Undercarriage.. but I still do wonder about this group..If they have out any CD's or anything..coz they were just awesome.

Has anybody else heard of Undercarriage? or know what ever happened to them??

Forums: NZ Music,

My band used to play with Undercarriage around that time ('98) and I used to arrange gigs with Ben, their bassist. The last time I heard them, they opened for Filter at the powerstation, and basically got booed off the stage. I understand some of them went to London to try to "make it" there. Their guitarists were real wannabe guitar gods, long curly hair, multi effects pedals and two hand tapping all round. Ben was a cool guy, though.

wat was that? two hand tapping thing or whatever what does that mean

you hit the guitar neck with both hands alternately, I think. Simon_Ishtar does some eight fingered tapping thing on one of his songs, according to my cozin Jim, which is meant to be very difficult.
Epitome also tap on a song or two.
My cousin says it is a Van Halen thing but as Epitome sound like Nickleback I think lots of people do it.

Just like all the people doing the twist in the 60s.

Not that difficult Mr Cynic. Effectively it is fretting a note with the fingers on the right hand, hammering on to the string effectively. Van Halen popularized the technique with 'Eruption' (Van Halen) but the technique goes back, sporadically to 1951 when a jazz cat called Jimmy Webster threw in some tapping on one of his songs (he called it the 'Touch method'). Billy Gibbons taps on 'beer drinkers and hell raisers', Steve Hackett used tapping on several early genesis songs, Brian May also used tapping, on a track cxalled 'Its late' before EVH. Van Halen based a lot of his style around tapping though and he is the one who got thousands of kids, including young Simon_Ishtar, doing it.
I'm not using all eight fingers on 'Enemy within' though Thomas it's six fingered tapping. For eight fingered tapping though check out Buckethead and Jennifer Batten.
