1. Mos Presents: Misfits of Science
2. Brooke Fraser - What To Do With Daylight
3. Degrees.K - Children of the Night Sky
4. ALH (all of them!)
5. P Money - Magic City
no particular order. not my favourite albums as such either, although I do enjoy them all on one level or another. P Money is included as the best example of a good talent gone horribly, horribly wrong. why would I put that in a top 5 albums?
I should also add that I haven't listened to the whole P Money album, but on account of it being because I couldn't bear to, I don't feel to disingenuous.
that MOS album rules - and i'm not just saying that cos i slept with both of them neither =) have a listen and hear for yourself... especially "kiddie fiddlin" track... would love to make a video for that one(!)
Kiddie Fiddlin' I think sums up what I love about the album; those two guys have so much humour and braggadacio (am I imagining that word?) running thyrough them. The production on the album complements the flow of the delivery so perfectly, it makes up for the occasional cringe-lyric. There is so much manic/psychotic energy behind this album, I can't believe people write them off as hip-pop.
have you heard the footsouljahs new album jimi?
give it a listen, its fucking stonking
i don't get into hip-hop much
just shit that really strikes me
and this does...
Betchadupa have 9 votes for the best album. Even if they did not, you could nominate them. This is a statement of what individuals regard as their own top five: has that point escaped you?
I think those punks in the phoenix foundation nabbed alot of ghostplanes votes, which is wierd considering phoenix foundation got like third in the 2003 one of these top fives. Though, sure the album is timeless, so It gets my nod for album of 2005 as well.
I was going to comment on the Phoenix album - its definitey not a 2004 album. SHould we just delete that choice of the 14 odd people that chose it tho?
well... the only phoenix foundation song released in 2004 was on the sold out A LOW HUM#13, so maybe they all meant to vote for that ;)
haha. yeah, mini dillema there. Maybe if someone doens't buy it until 2004, then for "them" it is still the album of 2004...and I guess this poll is more about personal choice then industry release dates.. hmm, though this could open a whole kettle of worms, with the Lamb's Not a Private Joke then winning every year.
I'm in the season of 'I've never sweated so much while sitting naked at my keyboard, listening to the Black Seeds, who sound like some sort of sunshine-imbibing demi-gods to my fuzzy brain'.
