Does anyone know where I can go to get work as a roadie / stage crew in Auckland? When I was in Sydney I worked through an agency (Lock and Load International) but there doesn't seem to be anything like that here.
I'm just looking for a bit of work on evenings and weekends.

Surprised no-ones replied to this. I don't live in Auck and I could be way off base (hmmm, I'll appropriate that to way out of my crease) but I don't imagine there would be that much work considering our limited population.
As far as I'm aware most bands set up their own gear, and will usually have a mate on the sound desk - ah the beauty of mate's rates. If they don't have a mate who can do the sound then most venues have a house guy for hire, maybe you could see if there's any positions open? I don't actually know what area of expertise you have so it's all just conjecture now :)

Most of the work I did in Sydney was bump in and out - bumping all the gear off the truck into the venue, and bumping it back on at the end. All the summer festivals (BDO, AK05, etc) will require a lot of that stuff, plus any big gig (Robbie Williams, Cher, David Bowie). I'm sure there are companies out there that do this stuff but I don't know who they are!

Try the link below. Is it the sort of thing you're looking for? I assumed that Cher brought her own roadies!
general note - when replying to a specific post use 'reply to this post' in the top right corner of the original blue post. it makes things easier to follow in the larger threads. lovely.

You tend to find the big international acts bring their own stage crew to set up the instruments, but everything else is done locally. Why fly 40 people over to lift boxes?
Cher wouldn't be my first choice of act to work for, but beggars can't be choosers. Hey, I roadied for the Wiggles - how rock and roll can you get?
