Yeah, I'm worried they COULD become close to being a boy-band. Let's see what the US does to them.

Here is a list of the most obvious differences between Zed and boy bands.

  • They don't sing covers.
  • As a matter of fact, they write their own songs
  • They play their own instruments.
  • Because they play their own instruments, the closest they get to dancing is jumping around a bit and head-bobbing.
  • In the photo on the back cover of the booklet in the Silencer CD, they're all looking tired and surly.
  • I haven't been around to see Zed lately but I assume that part of the problem is that (as usual) they released all their best songs already - some as far back as, what, nearly two years? (I'm thinking of Cold and Oh Daisy), and because they're still in the touring thing, they haven't had time to release any new stuff.

They're a good band, but Silencer was one of those albums that I bought, and I really liked half of the songs, most of which I'd already heard, and the other half were venturing into that poppy ballad stuff that doesn't do a lot for me. I have faith that when they do a new album, we'll all breathe a sigh of relief. I hope.

Yeah - true what Heather said

just ending the italic thang... the zed image has been turned bad IMHO. I know, we "need" mainstream boy bands as an industry but I reckon go for integrity and quality everytime. even if you lose.

I really do agree with Heather.
I liked Zed, and still do, but the best songs like Oh Daisy, I'm Cold, and Renegade Fighter were released some time ago.
I also think that their record label has cottoned on to the the fact that by releasing the poppy ballads and pushing Andy Lynch's heart-throb image they can attract a lot of teeny-bopper fans. (No disrespect to Andy, he's a pretty darn good guitarist)
It'll (hopefully) all come full circle when they bring out their new album, I don't doubt Zed's ability to write rockin' songs.
    Cheers,Tim.

I know, I keep coming back, but I'm bored.

I remember when I was the only one (not literally, of course) who'd even heard of Zed (way back then) - their target market then was definitely not the bunch of screaming teeny-boppers they have now. I suppose it gets them the audiences, the $$$$$ etc etc. I was SO glad they had the R18 concert in Wellington!

zed sang covers at mastertons summer hummer, and they were better than the
same old boring songs they started singing at the start of the gig, pity the people started leaving early seems they came to see fur patrol the lead up band to ted can you swallow that fur patrol fans,a lead up to zed the teddy bear singers Makes me sick!

zed is getting a bit tooooo pop stylish, they're getting onto the lines of being the guys from Hanson....which i really dont like...but they're still talented and they've got great music...I think it would make a difference if the girls would stop getting their hands all over them and embarrass them.I used to think that they were wonderful like gods, but when I met them I realised that they're still people....am I changing the subject????

i would say they arent a boy band because they dont 'gaybo dance'(a direct quote from andy) they play instruments. they know how to have fun they dont wear matching outfitsand they arent a clean cut american band. iknow some of their songs r really poppy but theyre just trying to make some money and doing how they can
