The October A LOW HUM tour

We're back. After a month off, A LOW HUM is back with a Hummmmdinger!

With a tour that can only be described as stupendous, we've got a special treat lined up with a triple whammy of indie goodness taking the reins of the October low hum rollicking road circus. Adjectives aside, I am very excited, to the point of freaking out about this months tour. Having just been nominated for Album of the Year at both the B-net and Tui NZ music awards. The Phoenix Foundation are getting repsect from all sides of the industry, their debut album "Horse Power” is a wonderful piece of work and it is with extreme honour that they accompany A LOW HUM on the road this October.

The Phoenix Foundation are the business, so surely this press release ends here. Well not quite…

They left New Zealand to win over the indie pop fans in Australia after releasing one of the finest NZ records around. It has been a criminal amount of time before they've decided to release another record, but its coming soon, and to introduce us to the new songs, ex-pats Cassette are flying back home to join The Phoenix Foundation at every show on the tour!

The Phoenix Foundation and Cassette. Does it get any better? Yes! Try adding a little Phleps & Munro to that mix. Just so punters don't faint in an indie pop heaven overload, we're breaking it up with the break beats, disjointed, eclectic MPC mastery of Phleps & Munro . Responsible for Slow Poke, one of the most innovative and genre destroying records of recent NZ history, Phleps & Munro, the enigma, the mystery is about to play for the very first time in the South Island.

Its an absolute cracker of a tour, and as always, entry includes a copy of the new issue of A LOW HUM.

A LOW HUM (winner of 2004 b-net award for "Best Compilation")

The last two issues of A LOW HUM have not been in stores because they pretty much sold out on tour. I am fairly positive this next issue will sell out completely. So if you want a copy, get along to the show!

bling bling Blink!

Tour will be outstanding, can't wait!!

...whoo!

to elaborate further...

the phoenix foundation and cassette in one evening. Why that's better than ice cream.

well... what is seeing phoenix foundation and cassette in one evening and walking home with 2 brand new songs from them as well like?

not to mention the other fine 8 songs on the compilation as well.

why that sounds too good to be true.

i'm impressed.

you even compare it to ice cream
someone just don't know how lucky they are.

I bought it (two copies and tickets and such) and then licked it. And I bled from all the hard rocking stapler action.

wooooooo i cant wait to go cause now I CAN!
yay yay yay
i am soooooooo there.

YAY

p.s
how much are these pre-sales at slow boat??
are they on sale yet??

I think pre-sales will be $11. $10 for the ticket and magazine. $1 booking fee.

Tickets won't be on sale for the shows until the week before the show. But you'll be able to get your mag/compilation at the same time. This is the case for Auckland and Wellington. In chch, pre sales won't get the magazine/cd beforehand but will pick it up on the night.

I think I'll have to buy an extra one for my mum this month.

i had mums in mind this month. My mum really liked the first compilation except "that terrible la la la song".

I'm sure all mums will just want to wrap up John White in cotton and cuddle him all next winter.

My mother already does...

well not that she actually wraps up John White in cotton and cuddles him, but she likes the music.

i had mums in mind this month......................... really? so wheres the nelson leg?

so it's cheaper to go to the gig?
rather than pre sales?
no rise in price?

the gigs might sell out before hand. who knows. better safe then sorry.

If gigs with pre-sales are close to selling out and only limited tickets are availiable on the night, door sales for those shows will actually be $15. Shows without presales will be still $10 on the night.

// Any chance of pre-sales in Dunedin?

I only actually pick up the magazine from printers the day of the chch show. (always leaving it to the last minute..i know)

now i have an excuse to go into slowboat and buy that re-issue of doolittle i have been lusting over...

// I didnt get issue #12.. and it pisses me off everyday

limited back issues are available at shows..so bring an extra tenner and pick it up from dunedin..also, can you email me...my computer died and i lost all my email addresses...i need to ask you a favour.

hey Blink, I e-mailed you, did you not get it - you havent e-mailed me back with any favour asking?

i'm sure that if you tried you could confuse us a little more

pre sales in wellington, auckland and chch = $11
door sales at these shows will either be $10 or $15 depending on amount of tickets left. most likely to be $15
door sales (only) at all other cities is $10

all of these prices include a copy of A LOW HUM#13 as well. Pre-sales people (in akl and welly)also get the advantage of getting the magazine/cd before the show so they don't risk losing it on night.

hope that is clear. I can't do much better :(

Any chance of pre-sales in Dunedin? We are just as capable of getting pissed on the night and losing or trashing our mag and CD as anyone in AKL, WLG or CHC!

I didnt get issue #12.. and it pisses me off everyday

Thanks for putting it a night before an exam :D

really? you've got exams on the saturday? i thought that friday was the last day of term or some shit...

and..where have you been the last couple of tours eh? eh?

Where I is at has a different timetable to everywhere else.

And...umm.... I was there in spirit? *feels guilty*

yeh fuckn hell. not again../.....

c'mon jimi..no lame excuse's this time bro. anyway...i've got a bootleg that says you're coming to the show.

The night before an exam?? PSSSHHHTTT!!! You should be so lucky!!! I'm gonna be away from Dunnos for work the week they play. Hard to pull a sickie when you are 500 miles away... damnandblast... that's the second time I've missed my favourite band in town... (*inconsolable*)

Anyone wanting some pre-A LOW HUM entertainment in Dunnos should check out Arc on Thursday 7th(Sweet Unknowns, Drak Beaks and Vicious Mandys) and also Saturday 9th (Dark Beaks and Tomahawks). Cheaper than A LOW HUM, locally grown produce (the bands that is) and a wide variety of the finest Sonic Ear Candy this side of... the A LOW HUM tour. Click on The Dark Beaks in artists for more info (under the letter "T" between The D4 and The Datsuns, by providence).

// Cheaper than A LOW HUM,

aw man..i'm like the evil expensive tour guy already :(

Less Expensive then... (who wants to be cheap when you can be better value?) . But $10 to $15 to see those bands AND obtain an award winning CD AND that smooth little mag IS insanely better value than anything on this planet right now. Oh & good news. I cocked up the gig dates and the calendar (helps if you look at the right month apparently). I'll be in town that night!!! WOOOOBLOODYHOOOO!!!!

sonorhead..i like the cut of your jib.

i'll have limited amounts of all 5 so far..and the new one (of course)

I think I need a copy of the last issue, as certain "people" I live with are completists and need the whole set.

Blink doll, as of tomorow fternoon there is no good reason I should not have back issues of low hum

did you pop that box in the post?

yup, I really can't remember which one of us was holding what package hostage, and the weens are grizzling.

Hmmmm bootleg well in that case I might have to be there I reckon.

Back issues eh, will you have that one I bought and lusted after only to put back on the pile while supporting a great New Zealand band by buying a tshirt? (terrible sentence)

man I wish Invers was more hip, so these type of tours would come here

i was there bro..with the very last tour. where were you?

thats because I didn't know!! would have gone if I knew

i'll bring another tour back, if only just to get more opportunites to eat jimmy's pies.

to eat jimmy's pies...................... so thats why, pie slut

yeah..but then again..Nelson does have that late hours place right next to phat club that even when i've ordered my toasted sandwich and then forgotten I've ordered it....they come into the venue, find me and hand it to me. Thats why I'm coming back in November. That and of course the fantastic hospitality ;)

Mmmmmmm, Mrs Mac's pies are the best.

Mmm.

mrs macs.
good for a commercial pie
better than irvines
but...
trisha's whoops old frail Mrs Mac's arse

miss mac???/ -
i suspect you'd eat just about any pie miss green
