u know i really don't wanna offend anyone but glorifilia sounds like some kind of nasty infection. is this some girls real name or did they make something up to fit the 5 syllable chorus?

Just like Stellar, I think Zed are one of coolest bands to even hear of. :) It is sooooooo great to see New Zealand become a success in the music industry. Good on Zed for their platinum award, because Silencer is one awesome album. I saw on RTR that their album went No. 1 in Britain. GOOD ON YA GUYS!!! :)
Zed are the best New Zealand band in the entire universe!!
They rock the planet!!
Their album deserved to go platnuim!
I reckon before you know it they'll be #1 on all the charts in the world!!
wait a go ZED!!!
Hey everyone!!!
Zed rock, they are sooo great. I love their track 'Come On Down'. Usually when I love a song I listen to it over & over till I start hating it, but with this one, I've listened to it over lots, but I still LOVE it!!! I'm confused, but I'm not complaining!!!
damm man, this song rocks!
Zed are going big in the world man, with them going to america this year and a bunch of other countrys their sure to become famous all ova the world!
woo hoo, go Zed!
Ok this band is the best NZ band that has ever been invented. They are so much better then most of the international acts. I LOVE THEM. I'm listening to them now. They rock. They are so creative in their song writing and have such cool lyrics..Go Zed!!!
just reading down these posts is pretty funny.... to zed's credit they have got some pretty devoted/obsessive fans...
but rakill i have to reply to your post individually. you say zed are 'the best nz band ever invented'. now i know you probably didnt say that intentionally but i'm still going to point it out. INVENTED. thats what zed are. they are a brainchild of some producer who thought 'new zealand needs a boy band'. true bands are CREATED, not invented after a long night over the financial accounts!!!!
have fun....
Jimi, without wanting to get into another semantics argument with you, and with a sense of disbelief that I'm actually defending Zed ... I'd say there's a slight difference between an 'invention' (like your TrueBliss' of the world) and a 'seriously managed' act, a category Zed fall heavily into. For, as far as I know, Zed were an actual 'real' band, all playing together before (the 'Godfather') Ray Columbus decided to do a svengali and take over their managerial reins. Admittedly, Ray has provided management and advice which have guided them to where they are today, but what 'real' band wouldn't want such service from someone like that. One might argue that Shihad were similarly 'invented', as (arguably) without Gerald Dwyer's guidance early on, they would have gone the same way of countless NZ heavy metal acts before them (ie. nowhere, and I repeat, 'arguably'). And surely Zed aren't really a 'boy band'? I thought that genre had an 'all-singing, all-dancing' thing going on. Are Heavy Jones Trio a boy band? Rubicon? Where is the great NZ boy band? How about "Popstars 2 - The Boys' Edition"
okey dokey, gotta think fast, got proved wrong hahaha
well im gonna reply to you here pretty comprehensively (even though im falling asleep at the keyboard) cos yours was a well thought out post and deserves a decent answer:)
first of all i dont know what semantics means.... oh dear lol.... but im sure i would agree if i knew what it meant?
i too have felt the amazement as i spring to the defence of zed, against mike hunt among others. why i do it, i dont know. but yesterday i felt like a BITCH. a good easy BITCH. hence my 'logic vulnerable' tirade about zed.
i did actually know zed was a real band before ray, but i didnt foresee an intelligent person coming across my post in here (judging from the standard of the other posts!).
shihad comment: spot on, very true.
boy band...... here i dont know what youre saying. boy bands are all singing all dancing in your opinion, but you mention rubicon and heavy jones trio? not quite sure what youre trying to say but my opinion is that 'boy bands' cater to the musical 'needs' of adolescent girls, needs which may not be met by music alone. zed may really like the music they produce, and maybe it would be cynical of me to say that they take the easy road..... but they certainly have the image right and theyre probably going to have legions of committed fans no matter how much shit they kick out. (unless they start entering the 'experimental stage' i.e moving around on stage and throwing in the occasional scream lol) the way i see it, zed have it completely right to attract excitable female fans.... but they arent anything special to me and i would say they are the closest thing to a boy band we have.
reply??
hey jimi: "boy band...... here i dont know what youre saying...my opinion is that 'boy bands' cater to the musical 'needs' of adolescent girls, needs which may not be met by music alone. "
And after saying I didn't want to get into a semantics debate...here goes...
My opinion is that the widely accepted definition of a 'boy band' is that they're a 'troupe', usually of 4 or 5 males, auditioned and selected by record company execs, who all sing and all dance, perform a repertoire of upbeat pop and saccharine ballads, and generally don't write their own music: eg. Boyzone, Westside, Backstreet Boys, 5ive et. al.
Zed are certainly a 'pretty band of boys', which is perhaps what Jimi is referring to when he says "needs which may not be met by music alone". Hence my allusions to Heavy Jones and Rubicon, who are also young and arguably (my word for the week) attractive. But none of these bands would qualify as 'boy band' acts in the Juice Music Video awards, for want of a better third-party defining source [a more authoritative description would be found in the Oxford English Dictionary, which has an entry for 'Boy Band' now apparently, but I don't have a copy on hand].
And semantics is just the study of meanings, and changes in meanings of words (amongst other things). We do seem to spend a lot of time defining exactly what words mean around here...Deep House, anyone?
and I forgot to say: yes, Jimi, you're right: they probably are the 'closest' thing we have to a boy band, at least in the way they inspire the same sort of mad adoration from young female fans.

I just want to say that I don't know how rakill4 finds the radio version btter than the version on 'Silencer'. Excellent lead guitars by Andy and its much more mature too.
To be honest, Zed are a wee bit overrated!!
They do write good catchy songs, and their album achievements are healthy and admirable, but they are hardly aweinspiring live. In fact they are very inexperienced and amateur live. The only thing which holds them on stage is their songs. If u want a real band go to a shihad or weta or marystaple gig
zed are just so unreal i luv them to bits
there music inisint just great its well real
its not shit like mmbop and crap its really well deep and soul full and you can rock to it i got the album buy it man they are well i am lost for words
understand me when I say that I am in pain here .... sure i have buddhas and cheap electronic goods here in korea but its what YOU don*t have that urks me urksomes .... put a video on so I know what the pants they sound like , I feel so isolated its like living in the Bluff solarium
hey bobcat... sorry there's no Zed for your solitary refinement. We'd love to put some of their vids up but their label (Universal) won't allow any internet content. This is due to the global policy by Universal - in other words, our NZ broadcasting fees goes towards making the videos but we are only allowed to play them where American Universal wants them played. No I'm not bitterrrr.... :)
Iam a brit who thinks good man rocks!! I got silencer sent to me from a mate in NZ for my birthday. No one i know has heard of them over here so i have decided to voice my views to NZ. Thanks alot Coxy!

ok i think that zed's new song renegade fighter is really great but thats just my opinion
Zed rock!! I saw them at the BDO. I can't wait for their album and I love their new single, 'Renegade Fighter'.
i think zed absolutely rock, ben is so dam hot, glorifilla is named after a book that one of the band members had read, ben is hot!!!
I heard Zed was going to do their own NZ tour. What's up??
