not in a million years.

I made it to the bit where the drums come in, then scrambled as quick as I could to kill the stream.

Not good.

the indiana jones of the music world

hahahahaha! The first four bars sound like the start of Money Money Money! Then the bit where it says "we hope some day you'll join us", I got an image of Gollum beckoning hobbits into the swamp to subsist on raw fish for the rest of their lives.

my ears are curious now, possibly 'join us' to molest what had previously been an adequate song.

Ha, it's like a car crash...gruesome, but you still end up rubbernecking.

no need to waste your bandwidth:
imagine all the perfect circle songs
with john lennon's words (oo oooooo oo-oo-oo)

but is it as bad as the imagining....

May be we should start another thread - songs that should not be covered. Or worst cover songs?
Stairway to Heaven - Rolf Harris???

leave rolf harris out of this!
he is the man!

Trust british paints?? Sure can!!!!

start the thread!start the thread!

About Rolf's cover...

Aussies inform me there was a whole album done called 'Stairways to Heaven', which was put together by a comedian turned interview show host called Andrew Denton. The idea was to get people doing that song in their own style, so you had John Paul Young making it sound like 'Love is in the Air', some Doors tribute band doing it a la 'LA Woman', etc.

he he i used to have that album - the doors tribute band version wasn't too bad actually it had more of a 'The End' feel too it rather than an LA Woman type of thing
don't remember how or why i had it cause i've never liked Stairway to heaven anyway so i wasn't too upset about an album of dodgy covers of it.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say it's not that bad. If it wasn't already a song, it'd be a perfectly adequate A Perfect Circle song. It's funny just how gloomy and scary they make a vision of the perfect world sound though.

can anyone do a blink slap?

Actually, she's right on the money, except that I wouldn't say "it's not that bad". That depends entirely on your estimation of A Perfect Circle.

the question is, knowing what perfect circle do, and knowing the original, did it need to be recorded? does the juxtaposition of the two opposing but not entirely irrecconcialable elements sound markedly different from the image one gets when first informed of this mismatch?

Good thinking batgirl....wouldn't that go for all their tracks though? Hearing "A Perfect Circle have done a cover of Imagine" conjures up an identical image to when I hear "A Perfect Circle have released a new single". So the real question is - why do they bother at all?

As it is, I'd rather listen to a cover than their original stuff; it's an interesting exercise, even if the outcome is retrospectively predictable and vaguely offensive. I was quite fascinated to hear what they've done with the original melody.

right, that's it, i'm checking this baby out, if i don't make it back, you'll know why.

I take no responsibility for your endangered mental health.
Hell, I can't even be responsible for my own.

oh my god! it's great!

Dang, another one bites the dust.

// make a vision of the perfect world sound though

Communist.

What gave it away, was it my cap with the star on it, or my autographed copy of the little red book that I clutch to my jacketed bossom?

Just trying to find an excuse to point out that 'Imagine' is pretty much the Communist manifesto.. atheist, borderless, etc. yet gets treated like it's espousing a message middle America might love. or something?

so now you like it, rope?

i'm afraid not.

hahahaha! "we don't serve rope - are you rope?" "I'm a frayed knot"
hahahahahahahaha!

hahahahahaaaaaa! aaaaahhh, forget it.

a classic.

Billy T James is god!

¿can it be worse than the other shit they do?

Hmm, listening now.

The worst part for me was the predictable piano intro.
Otehrwise it's cool.

muaha.

i wish i had rabbit ears.
my tv ariel has blown down.

i wish i hadcats whiskers
my radio titanias down

sorry
i wish i had cats whiskers
my radio titania has blown down

(squint)
speaking of elementals...or perhaps familiars..

But if you had a cats whisker (and a crystal) you would need a much bigger "titania" to receive the signal ... a superhet beats a crystal set any day!

You guys are fucking retarded, tool and a perfect circle are among the few bands today that arent in it for the money and write phenomenal music, especially tool. Maynard and Billy Howerdel are geniouses so shut the fuck up. Hope you have fun wasting ur life making fun of good music on the internet, pathetic fuckers
