DRUM ROLL PLEASE

Forums: NZ Music,

it's TONIGHT!!

Hey wat time is this gig tonite???

Things usually start happening around 11

So the Boxcar Guitars and Paselode are tonight instead of Thursday night??

Ignore my last post, I got confused.

hahahaha orc-upational blindness. can't see south of the bombays ;)

Paselode are playing in wellington tonight, auckland on thursday.

Aarrggh don't say that, don't wanna be an Aucklander!! Don't let it be true!! man i wish it was tuesday up here though. have fun tonight.

Heh, I'll be attending the Thursday gig.

this sucks. good luck finding someone else.

What a fucker. You will find someone very quickly me thinks. Rhys was an awesome drummer. Good luck to him.
At least I will get to see you guys on thursday night. Its going to be a big week. the music awards tonight, paselode on thursday and crumb and slave trader on friday.

I think I overheard someone say last night that Rhys is leaving because he's joining a hippie commune in the Coromandel to teach kindergarten art and music.

They'll have to find a drummer with just the right name, out of all the band's names "Rhyslode" was the one that really worked. Nato-lode? Nah.

// Rhys is leaving because he's joining a hippie commune in the Coromandel to teach kindergarten art and music

he'd better not be

at least not before he replaces my grandaddy cd

Man - I saw Paselode last night at the Kings Arms. This has to be one of the worst bands I've ever had the misfortune of being subjected to. Nothing to do with the various technical problems they encountered, just that their particular brand of funk-lite "rock" totally sucked. And with all of their nerdy posturing it was almost like watching one of those totally cringe inducing David Brent moments on "The Office" when you have to turn away from the tele it's so embarrassing.

On a more positive note The Boxcar Guitars were quite appealing, although could'nt help wishing they would let go a bit more - very restrained and controlled and that level of energy can tend to lose momentum in a live setting, particularly when the place is virtually empty.

hah they were blunted as, and jamming on that g chord the whole way through. i think you are the one that needs to relax man.

// hah they were blunted as, and jamming on that g chord the whole way through//
you refering to boxcars or paselode? Anyway , who did i tell to relax?

yeah eye really think pasedlode was terrible music
crapy rifs, ZERO hooks despite pretending to be melodic
but yeah try as i might , i couldn't fault the drummer when i was watching him - looking back , maybe he was all a bit too much
he was cool but not super cool

if by cool you mean technically proficient then maybe... but really if that's not a good example of a drummer over playing I don't know what is.

boxcars - i just find it hard to see where you get restrained and controled from, when what i saw was stoned and jamming. Sorry about the relax commnet, dunno where that came from.

Great band though huh, makes a really nice change from the norm.

Yeah, the Boxcars are pretty interesting and obviously all great musicians. I guess it's just that I think their set could be enhanced by a bit more of that groove rock vibe of the last song they played and the singer going for it a bit more at times, not that I want them to start jumping round like morons like the band that followed.

does this really warrant a drum roll?

I thought Paselode were fucking great on thursday night. fucking great great great great.
that song "be gone" is amazing.

giving them shit cause they moved around on stage?? geeky?

im gonna start a band with paralysed members in the hope you'll think im cool...
come out of that tall poppy shell and have a social banana.

geeky posturing = keen naked girls..

i dug the AK show.. and the man-gina stunt was hilarious..
RIZZO 'ol dog .... ima gonna miss u on those skins..

rock on facelode!!

***have a social banana.***
thats fucking funny.

chur CRUMB.....
im available for weddings and childrens birthday parties too...
i do a real cool thing involving urea crystals and being naked on a pogo stick... maybe i could do a support slot for your band..
xxx

naked...pogo....stick....youre hired.
seriously though.....when are you guys going to play again

Tall Poppys - you can't be serious. Perhaps you Welly boys have a somewhat over-inflated opinion of your little scene down there. Still you've got a great rugby team at the moment - go the Lions!

Look, I've got nothing against bands jumping around on stage but in my humble opinion Paselode came accross like they should be playing covers at the Quinns Post (is that pub still going?)

yeah crumb.. (i assume im talking to Carter here?)

Was thinking of another world tour in Dec. however it's simply not gonna happen.. part of me wants to put the puppy to rest, another part wants to come back and do the most over the top full blowen show ever...
perhaps when we are all in the same city again.... also we will be getting a new bass player..
anyhows i will see u at your release gig! .. have some filthy tunes to spin afterwards..

And Slippery ... whatever... i dont care

..... i also feel a certain gimmicky band in AUCKLAND has cheapend the vibe for me

hm- ¿why are they known as faceload in wellington i wonder?

i want to see you guys put on more pyro than great white could ever imagine........

//¿why are they known as faceload in wellington i wonder?

In Denmark Paseflode is a type of cream for putting in your coffee. Maybe thats got something to do with it? Tho it's probably coincidence, in the context it's funny-facelode, cream, HA HA.

//> i want to see you guys put on more pyro than great white could ever imagine....

haha.. in denmark its pronounced "paceflewtha"

Paselode were really good last week. I liked the first band too.
