Nz needs to get behind rising punk bands

What is going on New Zealand?....who cares about hip hop and pop, we should be over it. Where are all the wicked as punk bands? not being played...not having their clips showen...and why? Coz the hip hop and pop Sickness is trying to control our air waves. its horrible...im over it.. i think everyone should be by now.

There are some wicked bands out there, but no one seems to be getting behind them. yeah yeah we have like who...The Bleeders and sommerset...whjat about Brick Vs Face?, This Night Creeps?, The Rabble? why are we not seeing or hearing anything from thee great bands? Because no one will get behind them. Screw that.... C4 showhed the rabble's clip for Bored how many times on homegrown??
thats right NONE1 juice shows it....the rock are playing there music and so is channel z...but come on C4 with a show called homegrown...you should be showing up and coming bands like the rabble and Brick Vs Face..... get it together guys....people are getting over the hip-hop and pop stage and are moving onto bigger and better things, Dont you think you should as well? .

Txt C4 tell them to play The Rabble Bored on homegrown because if your like me you'll be over seeing scribe running around...you'll be sick of hearing that winning voice from the chick in Fast Crew...... New Zealand punk bands are really good, piity we dont get to see or hear them.
New Zealand can produce something other then this mainstream bullsh*t....its right there in our own backyards.

I hate to burst your bubble, but there ain't nothing wrong with liking ALL genres of music. The best punk bands get into hip hop and for good reason.. great artists show great appreciation for other art.

The Rabble isn't being played on C4 because it doesn't have enough tits or ass in it. The Bleeders has a bit of tit in there so that's being played on C4 sometimes...

C4 and Juice for me, it's just a great way to watch soft porn at work with the sound down. Isn't that why you guys watch it? Although those black american gangster chicks aren't much of a turn on for me...

My point is, dude, I like some hip hop, and I like some pop. Generally I don't like "punk" bands, and so hows about everyone is allowed to like and support whatever they want, okay? Cool.

Definately, who cares whats on tv, espeacially when you can go to a show. Plus C4 and Juice are such b-grade music channels. They fucking suck, I dont see the attraction in watching that shit. I dont think Brick vs Face are aiming for the sort of success the Rabble are either (not that I really know what Brick vs Face's aspirations are), pretty random you mentioned them hoi.

She's/he's not saying that. They just want to see more of a variety of music on tv. I for one am sick of turning on C4/Juice and seeing only hip hop. You flick through channels and you've got the same on channel 2 as well. So instead of having variety, you've got the same genre on all 3 channels. Yes it is aiming for the marketed crowd, it'd just be nice to have NZ music evenly spread out.

I Reckon C4 Should go underground - if we just removed the trashy pop and flip flop (hip hop) then maybe it can increase its audience share, im sick of seeing half naked whores shagging streetposts and rich white boys acting like there black just talking B/S into a mic while a pre-recorded computer software blurts out rubbish. come on C4. get your act together and play some bands that actually HAVE Talent and are not top 40 rubbish.

I agree with you and it's good to hear that. But that's not what the market wants. They dont care about all these other great bands, they're more concerned about what would make them money. I'm sick and tired of turning on C4 and seeing all this constant crap.

NZ hip hop isn't even original excluding maybe nesian mystic, i may not even call that hip hop (dont know, dont care quite frankly). Everything is so completely american influenced. Now you walk along the street and you get all these "Gangstarrrrrrrr" fucks trying to pick fights with you because it's the cool thing to do. It must be. C4 shows it that way and so do 90% of those fucking hip hop videos. It's disgusting.
I must admitt, there are a few rappers/hip hoppers (i dont know the difference) that i actually enjoy, but that is a very very minute group. I'm just sick and tired of seeing the same shit with a different label encouraging young people to act like pieces of shit.

For the record, i'd call the Bleeders Hardcore :p

what is it with kids these days? They lack even the basic knowlege and commands of the english language. Im getting your point but I too think that video is fantastic, and the songs kinda funny too. Perhaps a more suited example would be one of the many songs on tv at the moment that describe a dance move, like the nelly one that says somethingabout arm-flapping or the one that goes "lean back,lean back", its enough to make me never want to dance again, for fear of accidentally doing one of those moves......the only time its acceptable is during the Macarena.....hahaha

Well i could never dance anyway so that doesnt bother me haha. Yea, there's no problem with that clip at all, except that i dont like the music. I basically just used that as an example. Surely you people must be sick of the whole "Gangsta" image and all the white guys trying to be eminem. It annoys the fuck out of me. Rap/hip hop has really taken off and look how corrupt everythings becoming. People are educated by their favourite bands/tv/etc that fighting/drugs/mistreating women is cool. There was a party on saturday out by Piha and some Kelston guys bashed some girls. You know, that whole image has become 'alright.'

Im not saying that's what caused it, im just using that as an example. It's shit like that that is displayed on TV and it doesn't seem to bother anyone. They're making a Hip Hop dance class for girls as well. That's directed at 7 year olds and basically teaches kids at a young age to dance skanky. That's just fucking disgusting. Morals just don't exist anymore.

grrrrrrrr sorry to end my ramble this topic just pisses me off. This and Affirmative action, so don't get me started on that.

You miss the point - the great thing about punk rock is that anyone can do it! Many of the songs are simple. Is it any wonder so many of the bands sound the same? Let them have their fun. I mean, how many of NZ's top dogs used to be in punk bands?

if you really think about Music, everything has been done before, its odd that you only sight blink182 and rancid as being ripped off, i know heaps of punk bands that sound nothing like either of those bands. I personally think the most annoying thing is when Hip-hip artists rap about how they came from the ghetto in downtown LA, when really they've spent there entire lives living in Timaru and have never set foot overseas, In conclusion Hip Hop artists are the biggest rip offs

That's just music in general. Everything is heavily influenced by something else. Rap/Hip hop, has the same beat in a lot of songs, metal has the same palm muting, punk has the same chords, etc. Everything just revolves around one another. Sure there will be band that will create something orignal every once in awhile, but otherwise music in general is just cyclic.

Lots of shit Blink 182 and Rancid rip off bands make it big, but they arn't representative of the whole genre. Dumbass. His complaint proves his point against himself. Underground music is not represented in the mainstream media at all. Whether it be punk, metal or hip hop. Writing off punk because of bands like Blink 182, Rancid and Good Charlotte is like writing off hip hop because of J-Kwan and Ja Rule and the Fastcrew (who are awful). Maybe these people who are complaining about all this should expose themselves to less widely distributed music and stop spending so much time watching Juice and C4.

C4 and Juice are built on advertising anyway, the only way to change this is to abstain from being exposed to that crap and partaking in it, because if an advertisement or competition doesnt have an audience it becomes useless and loses its point. Juice TV and C4's primary objectives arnt to cover a wide spectrum of culture, but to attract the greatest audience to their programming, so of course they are going to play the most mainstream music around, thats why it would make more sense to watch some of the smaller music orientated programmes like Squeeze who are more balanced in their approach to local music. But I havnt seen any of these programmes for ages so I dont know what they are up to now. Who can really take a music channel seriously anyway? They arnt even concerned with the music, all they seem to want to do is run stupid Boost mobile competitions or some shit. Hook up!

Dont complain that Billy Talent and Pennywise havnt come over; have you been to any of these international shows - Off Minor, Stronger Than Hate, Sick Of It All, Good Riddance, only a few of the international punk/hardcore and metal bands that have been here? I especailly doubt Billy Talent would make any difference anyway. Dont blame stupid corporate media, its you yourself that needs to change your ideas as much as Juice and C4.

You seem to operate on the ideology that music is something that is presented to you, rather than something you should become involved in and explore for yourself.

I went to sick of it all and good riddance. Both great bands. I agree, we do need more people turning up to shows. I enjoy the same crowd, but it's great when you go to a gig and there are a heap of people there. A lot of people don't look out for gigs, they claim they're "Punk" and don't know anything about the NZ punk scene. I'm not saying im an expert or anything, but people really need to get out there and see what NZ has to offer, rather then being limited to all the mainstream pop punk like Good Night Nurse and 48 May.
