Oh man, if they're on channel Z's punk show they must be punk....channel Z is so rebellious and non-conformist and punk-ass and cool because they're above being cool...I stopped listening to channel Z a long time ago, but if this "punk show" fits in to all the punk cliches (ofwhich there are so so many) I presume it's called "Riot", as opposed to "ROIT" as you call it, which sounds more like a bogan/hick rock show....Riot...thats so fresh and original...for christ's sake, why don't they just call it "The anarchy hour" or "Fight the machine" or "the punk and disorderly show"....
P.S- although it may not sound so, I actually like "punk" as such, I'm just sick of all these generic pop punk bands and stereotypical "punk" songs, the thing with this genre is its cool because its different, like when the Clash did pop punk, although they were selling out a little, it was original, because noone was expecting it...I mean, who saw Train in Vain coming?!("here comes the soul train...get on board if you want")and when NOFX did harmonies it was funny,because they were making fun of themselves and their peers, and adding a cool new edge to their sound at the same time,and its wicked that they can pull off songs about anything from showers to clams to politics,but now when you hear about some new punk band, the only thing new about it is the band, not the sound, not the lyrics, not the style.

This whole "Punk" not "Punk" argument is really just people repeating the same thing OVER and OVER again and rephrasing it. Punk is what you want it to be, you choose your own definition of punk and don't let others hold you to it.

I agree, this whole punk debate is about as fresh as the whole "what came first-the chicken or the egg" debate, infact, I think weshould go all-out and eliminate any kind of genre whatsoever.
