meh.

International achievement award.
no steriogram?

Best rock album.
Dimmer - You've Got To Hear The Music
rock?

Best group
Dimmer
I mean, technically, are they a band?

Best Engineer: Chris van de Geer for Carly Binding's Passenger
why don't they just call it Best Turd Polisher?

also see they've ditched the 'Roots' category after one outing, merged the two maori categories, and likewise lost the best Programme Director category.

yeah and what's the point of nominees for highest-selling album/single? isn't it a question of fact?

Yeah I thought that was weird, surely its obvious who it is, unless maybe the period under question is still running, i dunno.

Awww Hayley Westernra's in there! Gray Bartlett will be pleased.

I disagree with so many of those that it's not funny.

Isn't that the point of the Tuis?

yes.

Nicely put. I think there were many bands that were overlooked and some of the choices there are just shocking. Sure i dont like most of that music, but know who deserves what.

Go the Phoenix Foundation though, eh? eh??

Go Phoenix.
Must be the token inclusion of the little man band.

// Must be the token inclusion of the little man band.

or maybe it's a genuinely good album. sheesh.

Oh yeah, that too.
Sorry Phoenix for the unintended insult...you know I love ya.

for ages i thought the tui's were put on by the beer maker.

they're not?

with eligibility defined on being able to locate maingatinoka on a map (and spell it correctly for that matter?)

music was the winner on the day - yeah right

Tui are the sponsor aren't they? I've never really paid much attention so I just figured that's why there were called that.

i have allways been so mean about the tuis...know i dont know what to think.

sellout

hmmmmmmmm

just kidding amandabk

Oh I know manamana, i was just making a hmmmm remark to represent me holding my tongue regarding devilrider and an, in some respects, ironic tui nomination

Yo dirty little bitch Ms Barkely, that is definetly the last time you get any 'action' out of me! Why Devil Rider is one of my closest friends and allies, together we have laughed and cried, and here ye be talking of 'irony'. What a very worn out concept.

Mind you, it will be funny if we go and get to hand with Carly and Brooke, do you reckon they're into girl on girl?

Action from you Rudy? Puh! i had given up all hope of that since you ceased to communicate with me despite various congratulations via various mediums.

who are these "people"? and whay are they choosing these bands?

I think people has been redefined as a group having some or all of the following properties
a) believing hipsters look good on *everyone*
b) <20 years
c) owning a cellphone
d) spending far too much time texting
e) silly enough to waste money on text voting
f) failing to understand that if everyone is wearing something ironically, it's really undermining the irony
g) failing to understand how trucker caps and irony relate in the first place
h) really into artists who write their own songs, like Britney Spears and her great song "I love Rock'n'Roll"

Maybe 'people' are major labels and the award is really for pushiest music communications/PR wench.

Maybe labels are made up of people too.

omg shock horror.

//it's really undermining the irony//

And they probably think irony is what their mum uses to get the creases out of their hipsters ...

hahahahaha, lovely.

All this negativity, but why should we care? Every music awards ceremony is a joke these days - Tuis, Arias, Grammys, MTV, Brits. About the only decent music award is the Mercury prize.

Life goes on.

is that the Mercury Energy awards? i'm so confused..

nah bro.

this list shows just how good british music has been in the last 10 years.

British music award...past winners include Gomez, PJ Harvey, Badly Drawn Boy, Roni Size, Pulp, Portishead...etc

Shortlist has included Blur, Oasis, Spice Girls, Robbie Williams... Often there are a lot of well-received debut albums featured; it's good for a solid cross-section of the british pop scene.

I Dont know why they have "best rock album" - rock these days is broken down into so many genres and sub-genres there should one one for "best alternative" "best metal" "best butt rock" "Best Jock Rock" etc etc.

Maybe the distinction doesn't exist for the majority of people - and award shows like this are about pandering to a majority aren't they? Did I spell pander right? Is that even a word?

the thing thats effing me off bout these awards this year is that they dont include our amazingly talented bands like shihad 8 foot sativa or the datsuns ...so im not gunna watch'em.

INTERNATIONAL ACHIEVEMENT

oopsies maybe not 8 foot...ok i really need to go find sumthing else to do/rant about now...

Ain't no muthafucka' calling me the LITTLE MAN. I been working hard to pack on the pounds and MAN it's payed off, I am neareing 100k's man.

So watch your mouth TESSIE TUTAE cause I ain't need any more BEEF, kapiche?

NEARING

"which one of these is not like the others..."
:-)

is that rhetorical? i've been trying to figure this out for a while now

i dunno, i was just being a smart arse.
i'm seriously fucking happy about PF getting the nod for best album.
even if we are just 'making up the numbers' or giving the Tuis some credibility (as some people have said to me) i couldn't give a flying fuck at a rolling donut :-)
it means "Hosepower" gets exposed to more people, we shift some more units and us and the band gets mo' money. RESULT!
i call it "The Little Album That Could" ;-)

thanks for replying, i couldn't handle losing another night's sleep,
//could
i hope it does

and in alot of ways i think it already has
