World Battle of the Bands just a little bit dodgy?

I see that the organisers have done it again.

Oligarchy, who competed in the 1st East Auckland Heat, and failed to get through turned up again in the 4th South Auckland Heat and managed to make the South Auckland semi-final.

Kaleidoscope, Heat 1 West Auckland, miss out, turn up in Heat 4 East Auckland and get through to semi-finals.

A similar thing happened a couple of years ago where a band knocked out in the 1st Heat at South Auckland managed to make it to the National Final ...

Now, I may just be a cynical old fuck, but to me this smacks of, at best, favouritism and at worst, corruption. I realise that the BOTB is a private venture and the Mr Featherstone and his associates can do what they like but it seems a bit unfair that some bands can be afforded a second chance. Surely if this is the case then all bands should be offered the opportunity to compete again at a different venue and thus have the benefit of being judged by a different group of judges who might be more ameniable to their particular sound.
