The new tracks these guys played went down a treat and the new album should be great... be interesting to see what baby dave brings to the sound... certainly seemed to be stirring things up a bit on the night with his enthusiasm... "remind these guy how to rock n roll".
G'land is playing tomorrow in Good Ol Austin Texas, at the South By Southwest Festival, a showcase of the day's most promising independent and alternative bands - many groups have played there and gone on to much success - it's one of the US's most important indy music fests...let's cross our fingers and hope that this'll open some major doors for these practitioners of memorable rock and (for those of us in the States NOT living in Texas) they'll be back our way soon - with a full blown tour.
dude, linux can't do lots of things more commercial os's can at the user end - it's (often unfortunately imo) a commercialized world, this is a commercial site, you know it, so why bother whinging cos you made an unusual choice and not everyone else thinks the same way as you. grow up, guy. _and_ then you go and link to a country and western site owned by MTV. what are you, a spokesman for Real Networks or a bitter ex-Apple staffer? pwaaaf.
I hate Real player, it sucks up so many resources, damnit. My brother loves it, dunno why, Real Download and Jukebox are pains in the ass too, arghh!
Give me Winamp any day.
Looks like some cybersquatters (a certain eric.remy@home.net) nicked it when Garageland forgot to pay their re-registration fee (the squatters grabbed it on the 31st of August). He's offering it back to all-comers at a minimum price of US$200. This happened to my band a year or so back and we had to threaten the thiefs with all sorts of (untenable) legal action to get it back. They settled, out-of-court, for a copy of our CD.
uncut? I lost count of the number of cu_ts... oh, and too damn many edits - as if the visuals didn't already tease enough - like to see a directors cut
anyone else think garageland's new album is crap??..im a fan of them..but theyre new album is crap pop..wat happend to the good ol rock songs like fingerpops..and nude star..and not empty??
hey! i answered to this but it didnt post i said something like,
i dont think its CRAP but dont think its near as good as the earlier stuff u mentioned on the earlier albums
Why are there only guys commenting on this video????
I think this SONG rocks. This video would of made those feminists scream though(in many sort of ways...hehehe) . I thought it was clever. Not many people can dance around a pole like they can
I just got their new album in the mail (won it off m2!!) and I admit I quite like it. Yes it is rather like pop-rock , but as some one who's not the hugest rock fan( particulalry the heavy stuff) I thought it was pretty alright!
I've never really bothered to check out any of their music before, but now it has me intrigued.....
I probably should have checked them out ages ago
too raunchy for daytime telly??!?!!!! From what I have seen of NZ television, that sort of thing should be spoon-fed to toddlers in the early education programming slots!
Well I have loved that song since I heard it. Glad the males like it...for whatever reason THAT might be. hehe. But raunchy? Nah. lol. Depends on your definition of raunchy.
Why oh F*cken why are these guys so underated? that's the impression i get any way and i'm stressed about it. This is a GREAT band an A GRADE band GARAGELAND for me are solid. First up the lead singer JEREMY EADE has agreat voice and knows how to sing he sings beautiful melodies and writes great songs. The songs rock of with heavy swirling guitars and is well structured. i've only been to one live gig and only have two of their albumns but i know they have got what it takes to be a big and i mean HUGE band. The music of SCORPIO RIGHTING is very popy catchy and fun with 7 songs having these attributes but the rest of the albumn is much like most of the songs on DO WHAT YOU WANT this albumn for me shows their brilliance with beautiful melodic stuctured songs. Songs like GOOD LUCK my favourite track and trashcans wich show just how good songwriters these guys are. The catchy songs these guys write like WHO THE HELL - GONE - GET SOME etc are great, they for me are almost but not quite pop which is a great thing, music that makes you feel like singing and puts you in a good mood.
All in all these guys are the shit and one of the WORLDS best bands in my opinion.
well, thats me on the picture there. I did the video on a whim, I had just got back from USA and UK and decided that I was sick of worrying about what pple thought of me and decided to do what i felt was right in my heart. I guess it was a way to rebel from feel repressed in such a conservative world at times. I new Myles would do a classy job of the video and didnt feell in anyway that it was tacky. I think the body is a beautiful thing, and im proud of mine and wtd to share that without losing morality. My friends know the kind of person I am and what Im not, and asked me how I felt about how pple would percieve me from the video. I said, how pple percieve me, doesnt matter, its how I percieve myself, and I respect myself, and no matter what you do in life, pple will always judge you, so you mite aswell do what you want. I have since moved to LA, and started up my own music website, www.metalvixenrealm.com and have started a segment on M2 called "Postcards from Hollywood", im living my dream, im living my life, and I wont pretend that this video didnt show me that I could do anything I want if I put my mind to it. Im proud to be me!

The best Garageland song ever is "Struck". It never fails to cut right deep inside my soul. Bringing up feelings that I don't want to feel.
My perfect "Struck" moment was in 1995 when Garageland was playing at the Wailing Bongo bar at Waikato Uni. I'd had a few beers and was feeling a little down because the man of my dreams who was also there that night was ignoring me. I stood around and watched the band play a few songs and it was cool. Then they played "Struck" and somehow the song, with its lyrics about going out and feeling down summed up exactly how I was feeling. As the chorus hit, as Jeremy Eade and Debbie Silvey sang "I'm kinda struck by the way I fucked up," I felt the most fucked up I'd ever felt and crawled into a dark corner of the bar and cried. The bass pelted, the guitar slithered along. Garageland had forced me to examine my dark feelings but now that they were out things were feeling a little better.
And then Mr Eade belted out those lines and everything was ok:
Billy Joel is an arsehole.

Those Garagelanders are swinging their way through the US with an accoustic tour by Jeremey and Dave...awww. They have a small but solid following in these parts and is one of the few NZ artists that most good US record stores hold. Those dates, thanks to garageland.co.nz...
