Ornithologist is an electro-grind duo from Wellington who create interpretive birdsong by combining pre-programmed beats/breaks/samples with live guitars.
History
Ornithologist was formed at the end of 2007 with an aim to create interpretations of birdsong by blending various styles of music including (and not limited to) electro, grindcore, synth-pop, deathmetal, breakbeat, 80's tv show themes, pro-wrestling intro themes, prog-rock, thrash, new wave, techno, gospel and probably more. An average Ornithologist song clocks in at around a minute and feature bird samples as a defacto vocal element.

Their debut album ""Talons" will be released on independent US label Debello Recordings in early 2008
