National Percussion Day '08

Friday 9 May, 10am-10pm, Raye Freedman Arts Centre, Epsom

The Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra is celebrating New Zealand Music Month by presenting National Percussion Day ‘08. This fun and educational day encompasses a diverse variety of percussion experiences, led by New Zealand experts in a hands-on environment.

The event features one the world's leading jazz vibraphonist experts: American Stefon Harris, who has been described by the Los Angeles Times as "one of the most important young artists in jazz". There will also be an appearance by EVE TV drummer Luke Casey.

Workshops include jazz, rock, timpani, djembe, taiko, samba and orchestral percussion. Whatever your level of expertise, and whatever your musical genre, Percussion Day has you covered.

Tickets cost $45 (includes morning tea, lunch and dinner).
