Elston Gun are a four-piece rock band hailing from Wellington. Featuring Seamus Johnson (Vox, Lead Guitar), Dan Rainey (Bass, Backing Vox), Jesse Aston (Guitar, Backing Vox) and Hayden Linney (Drums), The band have been solidly gigging in and around the capital for 2 years. A strong undercurrent of the blues runs through the band's music, but it has been twisted, distorted and mashed-up with a varitey of genres, to create something familiar, yet different. As a result, the band's songs, while firmly planted within the rock genre, contrast and complement each other, spanning from the epic, blues infused grooves of "look At You Now", to the punk-tinged agression of "Broken Lights", to the pop inflections of "Howlin".
These are songs that will soon be available on the band's first release, The White Noise E.P, out on 29th March through new independent label Etcetera Recordings. The 7 track E.P is a culmination of 5 months work at Wellington based S.T.L Studios. Recorded and engineered by Troy Kelly (T.K.O) and produced by Elston Gun and T.K.O, the White Noise E.P is the perfect snapshot of a fresh, exciting young band who want put the depth back in rock music, and focus the spot light on musically and artistically credible music that defies genre restrictions and scene politics.
