Atlas

ATLAS_FINAL.jpg

Atlas are a melodic rock band from Christchurch, featuring two of the past members of Zed.

History

In April 2005, at a Robert Lamm (Chicago) concert in Hollywood, CA, producer Hank Linderman (Beach Boys, Eagles) introduced NZ rocker Ben Campbell (ex-Zed) and his sister Beth Campbell to then 19-year-old solo artist Sean Cunningham. Introduced mainly for songwriting collaboration, the group decided to form the band Atlas.

Atlas are now based in Christchurch. Their 2007 single Crawl spent 9 weeks at number one in the New Zealand singles chart (placings on which are determined by an aggregate of the amount of radio play received and product pushed by distributors to stores, not by sales).

In November 2007 Atlas released their first album, Reasons For Voyaging. It was recorded at Roundhouse studios in Auckland by David Nicholas (Pulp, INXS) and debuted at #4 as a gold record.

Yay, I knew I could force some new blood to sign up. I put bits in this entry about how the band were actually Milli Vanilli style actors posing as a front for a sub-par 90s LA rock band. Welcome deanolil. I'll miss the picture of Sooty, Sweep and Soo, and it's a pity the myspace link no longer goes to the wikipedia entry about Cuntgrope Lane, but at least the official website is still wrong.

jet, that was all class.
