Akaname are currently a 5-piece metal/grindcore band from Wellington.
History
Akaname was originally formed in 2006 under the name Gomorrah, with vocalist Kallie Sparkles who remained with the band until August 2007.
""Akaname"" signed with Oklahoma (USA) based independent metal/grindcore label Debello Recordings in July 2007 who released their debut EP Filthlicker in December 2007. After the departure of Kallie Sparkles the band decided to remain instrumental.
