Dub Connection is an occasional dub outfit from Wellington, which includes members of The Black Seeds, Flight of the Conchords and Fat Freddy's Drop.
History
Dub Connection began when singer Barnaby Weir (Flash Harry, The Black Seeds, Fly My Pretties) asked electronica artist Michael Upton (Jet Jaguar) to remix a song he'd been working on with producer Lee Prebble. The song was called ' All the Goodness' and Jet's remix won the Best Unreleased Song at the b.Net Awards in 2000. It had already reached number 2 on Radio Active's song of the year 2000 chart.
Dub Connection became an occasional live band, fronted by Barnaby and including a bunch of Wellington musicians who were all in the same class at high school - Tim Jaray, Toby Laing and Bret McKenzie. They played Radio Active's One Love two years running, and managed to get an EP finished before members got too caught up in other projects (including moving countries).
