We're a burgeoning band looking to jam somewhere, perhaps regularly, and preferably somewhere with a P.A. supplied.

I'm about to launch my career as a hotshot fighter, and I need a signature tune. I'd like to find a kiwi track that captures the essence of girl-on-girl violence. Good promotion opportunity, theoretically, for a full-on high-volume Rockyesque anthem.
So...suggestions please, OR just for kicks, tell me what your own theme tune would be.
My good friends, and fantastic band The Tiger Tones (RDU Roundup Winners for 2006) are playing at Bar Bodega on Saturday night. $7 for them, and fellow chch'r Ed Muzik and thought creature.
Go see them!
Saw this in the paper this morning - it would appear that Bar Bodega is up for sale as an established business. I believe that tenders finish at the end of the month.
Was pretty surprised to see it up for sale - heres hoping it doesn't get taken over by someone who turns it into some yuppie bar with no live music.
Check out my review of a fantastic weekend here:

Radioactive 89fm Presents... On Saturday the 7th of April, The San
Francisco Bath House will be host to a night of noise, rock, drones
and metal. This is 13 busy Wellington region musicians and artists
coming together (in fellowship and with a large P.A. and for only
$10!) to provide an experience of rock which is entrancing,
challenging, crushing and fun… celebrating experimentation into what
music and sound can do to mind and body states.
There's a bit of hype over here about Voom. I'm way behind but how do folks rate them? Rip it Up interview a year back made me laugh ( in a good way) and the video and song 'Wanna be Your Boy' seems to have what it takes - + it's got a genuine indie kiwi vibe taken in a slightly new direction (good pop)

wow. He's been hinting at it with the first two albums, but this new record, lake has truly nailed it. Its outstanding.
If you wanna hear someobody who turns the typical notion of singer/songwriter on its head, get this record, or at least take a listen, its pretty incredible....
stupidly i missed the wellington release party last night, but he's playing in AK i think a couple of times next weekend...go and grab a copy of the record. (will be cheap as chips at shows i bet)
PS. The album is not on my label or anything, I just genuinely think its an outstanding record.
I'm guessing a few of you are signing up to Virb these days?
Anyone?
Any, if you don't know about it, it shits all over MySpace in just about every conceivable way, the audio player is light years ahead and actually works, pages are fully customisable with real HTML and real CSS... etc etc.
I know MySpace has the user base, for now. But I reckon fuck those dicks, give Virb a shot.
If you have a profile already I made a NZ Music group.
