About The Site

A gig poster section?

Hey

I don't know if you've had one before, or theres a reason why not, or even if this has been discussed before or whatever - but do you reckon there'd be enough room/interest for a gig posters section on the site?

I guess it'd be a bit of work, and I don't know how many other people there are out there that are that interested in stuff like that - but I think it'd be a great resource if you could get it going. I love gig posters as a medium - its such an overlooked component of the scene. I see a few things here and there, but it'd be great to regularly see people doing interesting posters outside of where I live (Wellington), for example...

I guess the downsides would be that it'd probably be hard to get people organised into sending in their posters - and I don't know whether it'd take up too much space or effort...

Anyway - just thought I'd mention it - I've got a couple of good posters I'd be happy to scan and digitally donate - and I've got the all ones I've done on file too if you ever want 'em.

how to reference nzmusic.com

I’m currently writing an article for The Press and I want to use one of the poll results on the Top Fives. I want to refer to nzmusic.com as “New Zealand’s leading website on New Zealand music” (or something along those lines to give weight to the quote, thought it’s not a big serious article), because I’m pretty sure that’s the case, but if my editor was to do a fact check on me, is some one able to give me some stats to back me up?
My article is due tomorrow noon, so I’m cutting it pretty fine, but I would be greatly appreciative if some one is able to give me some sort of stats/accolades list for nzmusic.com, by tomorrow morning?
If I can’t get an answer by then, I’ll still be very grateful for any kind of information on how nzmusic.com rates in it’s genre so I could use it for future reference.

thanks

How long does it take to register a band?

We're Beta Testing a new Ad Campaign Technology

NZMusic.com is currently invloved in a beta test of a new way (for NZ market) of delivering advertising campaigns. Basically a little media player toolbar sits on the far right of the browser, and if you choose to activate it, it will download and play a video file. The files will generally be TV ads that you may be seeing on NZ TV screens at the moment.

Feedback, thoughts and problems are welcomed...

thanks

a quiet but HUGE and very sincere thanks to dust and the team at morse.

today I got the Congratulations letter which means $5000 of my tuition fees for the year are paid, and I'll be off to spend a week in a big shiny building with lots of windows, plush carpet and good coffee...and some flash-as designers and copyrighters.

'the panel' were impressed with the amount of insight and detailed quotes in the research I submitted - a direct result of the time and thought that fantastical dust boyo spent helping me.

cheers also to blink and velocity, your help was very much appriciated. I'll courier you some beers or something.

thank you, you're all feckin legends!

Somethings missing

on the bottom of most pages you get that latest 3 posts ... it seems to be missing from ... the polls topics

sneaky wee changes?

I know my eyes are pretty buggered but have we had a font change??

I love nzm

I've been using this site with a modem and it works OK. But now I have CHELLO and its like watching my personal TV channel, I suggest that if you live in Wellington you really should get it!!!!!Its really fast and its cheap and its unlimited traffic.

Artists Forums

I think it's time we got a couple more artist forums!
Firstly Scribe needs one! This way we won't need to start heapsa different topics about him the time.
and The Checks, these guys are up and coming and are doing gigs etc so I reckon they need a forum of their own cos like Scribe, heapsa topics have been started with them as the topic.

New Revelation Hides In Latest News Wire

Hey, you can look up an artist profile using the URL www.nzmusic.com/ followed by the artist's name (with no spaces) - for example, www.nzmusic.com/augustino

I never knew! Is that new? That's sooo cooool....

Checking for new posts

Just thinking about the upgrade, I reckon some kind of feature where you could see the last maybe 10 comments in a topic would be helpful. Maybe something a bit like the history of recent comments you see when you click on "Forums" or go into the bar?

Maybe it's more helpful to just say what I think could be improved, and if you want to implement something you can:

If you've got a long topic and someone replies to something near the start of it the chances of that comment being read by anyone are pretty slim.

thanks. :)

Upcoming Events Forum

Lately I've been noticing that the "New Zealand Music" Forum has been really flooded with people advertising their gigs etc (which don't appear to be on the gig guide) And I thought it might be an idea to start an entirely different forum dedicated to upcoming events to clear it up a bit. Just a thought...

Bozo Lists

I love NZm, obviously, and I like getting to read the opinions and thoughts of most of the posters, but there are occasionally posters who I personally feel add no value. Would it be possible to develop a Bozo List function, where once you've logged in, you could list people whose posts you didn't want to see? I think this'd save a lot of the bickering and bitching that goes on in the forums - if you don't like someone, you just don't have to see them.

I mean, obviously I know that the good people that make NZm go are all hard at work and everything, but if there was a grand overhauling, would it be feasible?

hot topic's

whats the logic behind them?

Following user posts?

i like to read what certain people say - such as Scott, limegreen, Joe, Andoru etc. sometimes if i see them in Active Members i'll click on their name to see what they've been yakking about recently. but i was wondering if there was a way / enough interest apart from mine to set up a follow user posts thing, some sort of side menu where you could the first few words of the posts your mates have made in the past week ...

possibly a bit anal, but other forums i belong to have this function and it's been really useful for following discussions / gleaning wisdom etc.

other people interested? should use bookmarks instead?

Props to the NZMusic team!

Nope, don't see them in the artists section. . .

Where are they?

I think they should be in there!

I've been thinking...........

Today I read a comment on the boards from a nzmer, that they had stopped posting, yes i had noticed their absence but had put it down to them being tied up with the stuff of music, but then i though about how few of the people I used to make a point of reading are now no lomger posting..........
Whats really going on guys....
I know I am just as bad as everyone else sitting back waiting for someone else to start an interesting debate........
I don't know but maybe it's time for people to stop sitting back and being pissed off about the all the "shite on the site" and start flooding it with goodness............
Shit I don't know what I am trying to say but far too many people are falling through the cracks.......

Hello!

The K1500 Project would like to submit a song for the download section of nzm.com. Email isn't good for me, because all the account I use have limits on the size you can email.

Is it possible for me to just drop off a copy of our CD at nzm HQ and get you guys to shove it up from there? Or is there a postal address I should use if you are scared of us nzmers turning up :)
