When are y'all giving away them free posters?
It has been awhile!
if we come across something odd or off on smoke cd.com who do we tell?
Down loaded sound bites from the new degrees k album.. came up labeled as strangers with candy from the no neep ep.
I have no idea how far along the development road you are for the next version of NZM, but I encountered a particularly good forum system at the site below, that caters for a large membership. It has a solid internal email, PM and thread rating mechanism.
I gather this is the type of forum that NZM is switching to?
Is it just me or does this site seem to flicker a lot when you scroll the top menu?
Is there anyway that when we type a comment we can coreect it without going back and reposting the thing with the correct spelling? Most of us realise weve made a spelling error and we are made to repost the same thing with the corrected spelling. What im asking is that a Modify Button be added to the forums so when we realise weve made an error we can correct it without having to repost.
just wanted to say that the addition of the smoke cds menu at the bottom is a good idea. it's advertising but it's relevant and a good idea and hopefully helps the site to stay afloat! Nice one dust and teina.
at first I was going to get upset that the ads appearing on the left of the screen aren't exclusively nzers, but then I decided not to. and it's good to see the options at the bottom are all nz artists.
definitely less obnoxious than some other ads, like that offensively yellow i pod one of days gone by.
I played about and got a text file of over a hundred phone numbers from this site within quarter of an hour... Further playing suggests I could grab thousands of email addresses. Main areas does seem to be the classifieds.
This might be a bit weird, but does this site make any kind of warnings about leaving your contact details on here when people sign up?
Specifically that they are not going to be on the site short term, even if you can't see the forum you posted in at the top of the list anymore.
I can't remember any such disclaimers and sometimes I reckon it would be a good idea, particularly for classifieds, where people may think what they write will only be around for a short while.
Sure people should take responsibility for their what they type, but particularly those who aren't particularly net savvy or are practically kids still may need it made explicit that anything you post here can be found for years.
I have no idea whether this is something that other forums worry about, or even something other forum users worry about for that matter! I'd be keen to hear other people's thoughts.
In my opinion, the following is the best of the best:

Came through fine, I'm going with the metal blade CMO logo over my back... My mum just suggested going to get a screenprint instead of the embroidery places at the malls...
But that doesn't last as long does it?
What looks better in everyone's opinion?

What's your favourite quotes as seen on NZM?
someone please put that smarmy fuckhead out of my misery. Where's ocphuman?
Just a suggestion- How about a random band of the day?
Each day a script just randomly picks one of the bands listed on NZM, and a few lines from thir bio. If it grabs the person reading it they can read more.
It would help bring up the profile of bands which people might have never/never would have heard of, or just heard the name in passing.
Do you not, perhaps, think it a little naïve to expect something that is ever expanding and growing to remain static. I do. It seems some people are feeling nostalgia for days gone by when there were less members and the ‘rules’ where universally understood. The only way to combat this is to keep moving-start a new site, only tell the people you like, and when others find it forbid them to share your toys.
Another point to be considered is, to what extent can you own something that is so public. I mean sure it takes someone to code the site and put up the outlay for the domains, but that is about the limit of ownership. This website is a very public thing, a collection of hundreds of little soapboxes. And like the public square where a ‘realworld’ soapbox exists what people say is of their own prerogative. The council owns the land, and has paid for the tiles and the plants and the benches, but beyond that they have to relinquish control over what is said there as that is not their concern.
What is happening with sites like this is an experiment in ownership. I see it is rather Moari form of ownership-fluid and flexible, of the tribe and not the individual. An ownership without deeds and title.
Everyone went to school, and every school had a class clown. CUNTeyes was perhaps NZmusic’s, first class clown, and like a class clown he pushed and pushed at the rules to see how far he could stretch them. Unlike a teacher, however, Heather allowed herself to be affected by this- something a teacher would never do as it erodes any semblance of authority.
Also a point on “Competitors”-Posts I make advising people that I have put together a links site are removed constantly despite being clearly labelled as a community service-and despite the fact that the site is hosted on a free server that expressly forbids commerce. So Autistik, it would seem that the definition of competition is pretty vague.
Intelligent people who used to post don't seem to much anymore and I can't help but feel a bunch of morons (including me) are responsible for the downward spiral.
Well, according to the last post, everyone is the devil. You are not allowed to post anything, because it may offend someone, disagree with someone, or your post could be used to state something interesting.
Cool. Looks like this forum should be a classifieds?
nzm should make a photo galleries of the rocks shows that you guys goes to. Which is also helpful to reveal ur true identities!!!! U don't have to be in it if you think ur a ugly fucker. Of course this requires a camera person at each gig...
If you check your profiles you'll see an new thingymyjig we've started on called "Top Fives".
Have a play around, we'll be improving it in the coming week, but you should be able to figure it out for now.
here's an idea (maybe a good one):
it'd be cool if there was an option for users (who have made at least a certain amount of posts excluding the bar could be a qualifying criteria?) to add their own reviews of albums and add a star rating to it (much like rollingstone.com, dare i say it). then albums could be sorted by user ratings and so on enabling the casual fan of nzmusic (local and overseas) to see the albums that rock and those that don't. for example, how many people from overseas know that the lucid 3 album is really fucking good? i think this might be a good way for bands apart from the shihads, the datsuns, the D4s, the bic rungas, the neil finns etc to get a decent overseas following. and it's another cool thing for nzm users to waste good work hours doing.
That new Bond & Bond ad at the top looks horrible!!
Does it need to be so big?? it makes the site look ugly
