We are looking for a horn (trumpet or trombone) player who is keen to sing and play percussion/other instruments as well.

The band has been touring NZ for 6 years and just completed tour of Europe. 3 albums receive much play on the b-net and national radio. inflences: jim o'rourke, notwist, beck, belle & sebastian, sujan stephens, phoenix foundation, smog, jolie holland etc...

Hey everyone, currently the band I'm in is shopping around to record its first EP and thought I'd call on some of your experiences.

We can record with one guy who is brilliant, most amazing recordings, huge sound, epic, right up there with the quality of any cd in my rather vast cd collection. However all wonderful things come at a cost (given the quality its not huge, but still a bit rich for our collective blood).

So anyway, what studios are out there (Auckland/Waikato area prefered), who gives good bang for buck. Ideally we're looking for a package price, so 5/6 track EP for $x,xxx.xx rather than an hourly rate which could quickly balloon out on us.

We play heavier music, with a lot of melodic passages as well as some brutal ones (I assume different studios and engineers are better with different genres?).
