Forums: NZ Music,

Sounds intriguing, almost like a whodunnit feel ... i feel like i'm missing out on hearing about some strange occurrence that no one talks about any more... Care to elaborate?

I was only 2 at the time. so I can't help you.

I was 20 and working up the road in Wellesley St , popped down after work to catch bands like Herb's and DD smash.
Pretty good vibe in the crowd everyone pretty cool having a good time.
If you were standing on Queen Street looking into the square, back in those days on the right hand side was a Post office on the corner of Bledisloe Street. A large group of gang members, which gang I cannot remember were on top of the roof , and from memory were either throwing bottles or fireworks or both.
The next thing we knew was the riot squad assembling on Queen street , this was brought to the crowds attention by Dave Dobbyn, who was on stage at the time.
The crowd turned its attention on the riot squad , pelting them and then proceeded to drive them down Queen street. This went on for a couple of hours with more reinforcements being called for both sides.
The central city was mess with damage to shops and anything not nailed down

Carnage!
