Just wondering whether anyone has any experience with honesty based online music sales.
I noticed that Steve Abel is doing it over at http://www.abelsong.com by offering free downloads with an optional paypal payment of what ever you want.
I like the idea - has anyone had any experience with this?

Radiohead obviously did a similar thing with good results ... but then, they *are* Radiohead...
I like the idea. In fact, I was thinking about this sort of thing recently.
I guess in some ways it would probably generate more sales for a band, because of the higher percentage of people potentially exposed to the site, and therefore the higher the percentage of "honest" downloaders ....
... of course, there would also be a higher percentage of non-payers - but then that also gets your music out into the world. And so in that way it's probably better than having people just plain old stealing it by filesharing mp3s....
