I'm turfing out my old old cassette collection! I have a single for Song 27 which I bought way back in 1991. Would you be able to get me an Mp3 of that song? Would so appreciate it as I can't find the album anywhere online.

Hope that helps.

anyone know I can get hold of the CD Trillion Shades of Happy or any other Push Push merchandise ?
I saw Push Push many times over 1991-93.

Interesting - I'd never have thought that Push Push would be virgin territory but there you go. I see that ten years on, Trippin' has made its way into the Bfm top ten. I think Robyn would be pleased.

I don't listen to that station but i can only assume that it has something to do with Havocs departure.
call me a cynic

That's what I thought too, but apparently there's some Kog Transmission version just come out, maybe its inspired people to check out the original. Bfm is responsible for me starting to listen to non-mainstream music (oh, along with an underground AK band called the Beads), so I still listen in every so often to selected shows, like Freak the Sheep, Stinky Jim.

I remember when that song came out.

I thought Mikey Havoc was sexy! Oh the shame of it! Must have been the hair... had to have been the hair.

Hey I was only a young one after all.

I completely thought the lyrics were songthing else.

"I want tripping, I want you" instead of "I was tripping out on you."
My version doesn't even make sense!

Oh yeah and I remember vaguely being so impressed when the band did a guest spot on Gloss. I saw that clip again in one of those "NZ stars before they were famous" shows and omg it was lame!

Why am I so ready to confess the mistakes of my shameful past?

Well I don't actually recall ever hearing it (never saw Gloss either). Mind you, I think I was in London when it came out. I looked for it tonight when I was in the station but no Push Push at all, maybe its locked away in the archives I am supposed to be sorting out over Easter. You don't still think ol' Mikey is sexy? He seems to!

Keep up the confessions Martha, keeps us worker bees coming back.

//You don't still think ol' Mikey is sexy?

Pot bellies are NOT sexy. Well, fat in general. Not saying I'm little miss twig girl BUT Mikey Havoc had it going on when I was 12 (ish - can't remember excactly when that song was big) and doesn't now, due to weight gain and I dunno, I came to my senses?!. Mind you, those were the days I fancied Axl Rose and Sebastian Bach, and Mikey Havoc I suppose was the best NZ version we had on offer at the time.

*sigh*

What station are you at myshkin?

Radio Control - formerly known as Radio Massey but they decided on an even lamer name. I host the kiwi music show and another early evening general show, all for the love of it. Oh, and I help out on a community radio station out in the Sticks - Radio Woodville, taking them a slightly alternative Thursday night - I wake up the grannies by giving them a dose of Tool or Rammstein every so often!

My coolest memory of them is driving in a convertible on the freeway out of LA, listening to a compilation of NZ music I took with me. "Trippin" came on just as we passed the turnoff to the white trash mecca that is, like, The Valley, dude.

dude

hmmm, am i in the right place?? just thought i'd put on a trillion shades of happy for the first time in 10 years and see if there was anything online for this band!!!
good to see there are 3 other people out there....

were all out here bro, listening to our push push. you just got to get in your car, put the tape in your deck, and drive.

is it your city?

is it your island?

maybe catch a ferry (bluebrige reprazent), head to this other island?

head overseas? (get out of your car first)

drive man drive. we will come. we will come. we of the push push, we will come. if we hear you playing the push, we will come. we will all be at one with the push. you just bring the mullet and the tie dyes. we will come.

sounds tempting, especially the bit about the mullet and tie dye!!!

Ahhhh Cllllllllassic.

It was 1992, the air was thick with "teen spirit", the cricket world cup was on the telly, the Spin Doctors were into thier 14th minute and a bunch of kid's from Rangi' had an albulm out.
Who wasn't "trippin out".

okay, so I was getting my opshop on the other day & I saw a Push Push cassingle . . . with a cover of the Chills' krautrock-esque lament/tribute/etc to their dead drummer, "I Love My Leather Jacket" on the b-side.
I am filled with the fear.
Can't . . . look . . . away . . .

the old drummer from Push Push, Scott Cortese, now plays with Auckland band Naquadah
