band names

Hey does anyone know how to be sure that it's ok to use a certain name for our band? Sugesst a website or something?

I guess you mean whether or not someone else is already using the name?

Allows you to search and register your band name.

Having said that, you have to pay (it's only like $10US). And then I'm not sure how legally protected your band name is here in NZ. However any person or label searching this site would then see that your band name is in use, so might stop problems before they occur.

I did it for Mind Vandal, don't really know if it was worth it, but at least I know that name wasn't taken. I also did Google searches on the name to make sure.
