New Radiohead album

It is out on October 10 and Radiohead are releasing it themselves, so no label mess. This also means it won't be in shops yet. You have the choice of a digital download or a discbox which has the album on CD plus another CD with more songs and goodies plus a vinyl copy. If you are willing to part with £40 (incl postage) and willing to wait until 03 December for the physical copy then (digital download on the 10 Oct included) then the disc box is for you. If you are a bit skint on the money then for the digital download you pay...what ever you want! Crazy. I want to see more of this.

I really want that boxset
2 Vinyl
2 CD
& Digital D/L
all the songs on the second CD are only available on the CD in the boxset.
at least until it makes it's way onto the interwebs

ARGHRGHDSHDMHSDMMMmmmmm

That box set looks hot.

The normal CD doesn't come out till early next year.

Apparently its a sneaky move where by they kept telling media that the album wouldn't be ready for a long time then band here is the album....blah blah. bypass it getting leaked to the net by leaking it yourselves. and THEN let people pay what they want. Its almost like a challenge to fans. You like our music enough to sneak it around from stolen pre mastered CDRs so do you like it enough to pay for a digital version.

Its very cool. Quite unpretentious and totally Radiohead

Thanks for putting this up man

After having a quick read of the many takes on the whole 'name your price' thing, it seems a few smaller artists are getting scared. I ask, why? Radiohead can afford to do this because they have luxury of not having to worry too much about income, yes. But it is just an experiment. If such a model did come to fruition, I would imagine most artists would put a lower limit on the price just so that they can at least break even. Even that is exciting. The phenomenon this has created just by people posting in forums about how much they ponied up for the download is generating buzz. Also, sure there are those people that will pay zero but they would just download it anyway. By allowing the purchaser to set the price you have the potential to sway those who download but only because they don't want to shell out $30 for a CD and would rather pay $15. Of course, you then run the risk of losing those that would pay $30 and end up paying $0. But you'll never know unless you take a punt and heck look who is getting all the money.

Trent Reznor has just gone down the same path.
2 "true" major hitters in the music biz...
