Captain Sgt Major, Black Boned Angel, The Dukes of Leisure, The Moon Whispers and Birdcatcher will be performing at Valve this Saturday night, the 15th of September... for $10.
Captain Sgt Major are one of Wellington's very best rock groups... "Heavy as all fuck and super mellow, twisted and conventional, original and cliche'. We are each of these things rather than in between them." Shades of Slint, Shellac, Helmet... Awesome.

Black Boned Angel incorporates elements of drone, industrial, dark ambient and influences taken from doom metal music. Members Campbell Kneale (Birchville Cat Motel) and James Kirk (Sandoz Lab Technicians, The Stumps) sculpt slooooow soundscapes from huuuge guitar tones... they must be experienced.

The Dukes of Leisure is an evolved instrumental free jam band, layering textures atop gradually shifting dynamics to produce melodically pleasing soundscapes... or a "Post Rock" band, if you prefer. The sound heads out towards Metal and all the way back to Ambient, with a whole lot in between.

The Moon Whispers is: PSYCHNOIR!!! Blending together melodic guitar, powerful drums, atmospheric flute and cello and hypnotic emotionally charged vocals.

Birdcatcher is Bill Wood (1/3 Octave Band) and Antony Milton (Nether Dawn, PseudoArcana, etc.) They make the sound of Huia crying lost across endless time... Swells and lulls... The eternal drone of absence...The stoic stalwart instruments of olde country (banjos and lapsteels) highjacked by the ornithological horde to create a music of the glorious sky in calm and in tempest.

Glee!
The others are pretenders... come to Valve... Valve is real... Valve is gritty... from 9pm.
