Well Andrew and I went to the Crowded House concert last night (31/10/07) at the TSB Arena in Wellington.
We arrived to see the longest queue I have seen in my life, it was fast moving though, so small mercy, but we decided not to watch the first "band" so we went and grabbed a beer at Leuven, I had a Leffe Brun and Andrew had a cloudy Hoegardden, We sat outside and bitched about current events (mostly about the opening act).
We strolled back to see how the queue was doing in our absence, it had gotten longer, but we decided to join the throngs.
We walked into the venue in time to catch the last 2 songs of the opening "band", lucky us!
I kept our seats warm while Andrew grabbed us some drinks. There was already an impressive crowd that got bigger as the night wore on.

1/4 of the crowd just before Supergroove played.
Supergroove took to the stage and launched into their set, now I'm not a fan of Supergroove but they we're tight and energetic like they were when they started out all those years ago. Fans wouldn't have been disappointed at all! I didn't spend my time wishing they would piss off, which is a good sign!
Then it was time for Crowded House, yesssssss! No dicking about here, total professionals, the crowd response was fantastic, a great salute as they took the stage, I'm not going to give you the set list because that's not how I roll, plus I didn't write it down. The whole band were (to peddle a cliché) consummate performers, true entertainers! With the drummer Matt Sherod dropping my jaw with his expertise, a pleasure to watch (and a strange kit layout)
If you've heard Farewell To The World you'll know that they have playful on-stage banter, and reacting and commenting on the crowd and their reactions, including a duo of stage crashers, which puzzlingly the bouncer only removed the girl and left the guy on stage much to Neil's dismay and urging him to launch into a wee song about the fact.
Crowded House played for about 2 hours roughly which included 2 encores.
In summary it was a great all round excellent gig with a pleasant relaxed crowd from my perspective.
5 Stars!
I feel all a tingle.

Oh my stars! i was there. it was sublime.
i was a big nerdy supergroove fan back in the day (i was moderately in love with karl steven when i was 14-15) so seeing them live when i never got the chance because i was too damn young back when they were around in the olden days... was AMAZING. i nearly wet myself multiple times.
and crowded house were fucking choice, of course.
It's funny, I was talking to
It's funny, I was talking to my friend last night and he said to me "You spent your whole life without seeing Supergroove (deliberately) and now they reform and you see them".
They played at my High School when I was in 5th form, we won the collect the bread tags thing, our school always won those competitions, we had Push Push play too, and while they were playing I love my leather jacket, someone stole Mikey's leather jacket. Ha! oh the ironing.
whats wrong with Pluto? They
whats wrong with Pluto? They are usually great live. I am rather looking forward to their new record myself. I arrived at this show really late and only saw Crowded House. It was great and I even liked their new stuff...it was dark and moody.
I just don't like Pluto. I
I just don't like Pluto. I personally can't find any merit in there music for me.
When I hear them a word springs to mind, Contrived.

It was a choice concert, I
It was a choice concert, I enjoyed Pluto even though I only recognised 2 of thier songs. Supergroove were fantastic, it's so interesting to see that after Che Fu recored solo albums so different to Supergroove's style that he can still rock out, I thought I'd never get to see them since they broke up when I was quite young. Crowded House were amazing, how good are Neil Finn's vocals still? Definitely have to get thier new album, even hearing the new songs for the first time at the concert makes me want to buy the album which suggests a moody, dark and kind of melancholic tone. Had fun, lots of fun!
I went to the CHC concert. 2
I went to the CHC concert. 2 bands I never thought I'd see again.
Crowded House were fantastic, although I'm starting to tire of Neil defaulting to a 2-encore format. Especially when it's made really really obvious, by leaving certain songs til the second encore. On the other hand, it was kind of exciting that it seemed like they might have actually played an extra song in the second encore, despite the rest of it seeming so bloody orchestrated.
Half way through Supergroove's setlist, I began to wonder if they had deliberately balanced the set in favour of songs featuring Karl's vocal. OTH, Supergroove brang more cowbell.
